  2. Construction planned to begin in October of 2016 but utility replacement/relocation should start sometime before
  3. The key here in all of these "successful" examples is that there are actually a critical mass of things to do, places to shop, restaurants with significant street presence/seating. We have and are making progress, but there is not nearly enough there there to sustain a pedestrian mall IMO.
  4. Seems to have gone quiet on this one lately. Anyone know anything?
  5. I would also say that the Gateway stop should graphically read the same as the Transportation Center. But this is fantastic!
  6. I'm afraid not. I lost the original files. This is high res photomerge of 10 or so separate photos.
  7. Something of this scale would be more than appropriate for that corner. I would love to see more infil office projects in the neighborhood to diversify the development that we are getting.
  8. I just don't like that they are painted black. I am anxious to see what the canopies will look like with them. I drove by one of the stations Wednesday, I believe it was at McDowell, but they were installing the vertical supports for the canopies.

  10. "I noticed a Luna's Living Kitchen sign at the renovated warehouse project on Winnifred, on the space nearest Summit. It doesn't look like much else has been done yet though, doesn't really look like an actual restaurant location (though it could be a great one with that space if enough creative work was put into it). " This space you are referring to is a prep/production kitchen and storage space.

  12. I hope it is the green one where an architecture used to live. it is a great little space and I would hate to see it go.
  13. Birdsong just posted their new space opening on April 4th on their facebook page.
  14. Brief anecdote.... Two weeks ago a good friend of mine had their birthday fall on a Saturday so we decided to surprise him with a bikes and breweries tour. 8 of us started at noon and left Plaza Midwood and biked straight to Olde Meck staying mostly on the Greenway and the Rail Trail. We then worked our way up to NoDa stopping for a single beer at Olde Meck, Sugar Creek, Triple C, Sycamore, Unknown, NoDa, and Bird Song. We only skipped Heist and Lenny Boy, as we had a set time to be back in NoDa for a surprise party for him at 8:30, but it was a fantastic time. The breweries are so well spaced so that a bike trip between them is relatively short, safe, and enjoyable, the longest distance on our route that day being between Unknown and NoDa. We did not feel rushed at each brewery and we were able to get small foodstuffs at the food trucks that were at each one throughout the day. I had not been to any of the breweries during the day on a Saturday in a while, and I was blown away by how crowded the earlier ones we visited were. Olde Meck was standing room only, not many were outside as it was quite cold but the bar was accessible, as we all know it is huge. Sugar Creek and Triple C had a good crowd as well. I will say however, that Sycamore was crowded to the point of being unpleasant... We were there around 3-4ish and you could not get to the bar or even make it to the rest rooms without flexing some considerable Limbo prowess. This excursion only verified for me that we are no where near a saturation point for breweries, as long as they are quality experiences with good/decent beers. All that being said, we absolutely plan on doing this again, especially now that it is warming up.

  19. I am very happy to see this acknowledgement form their team. I went to Unknown a few weekends ago for the first time in a looooooong time and it was truly a different/better experience. The beer has improved greatly as has their taproom and staff. I hope that some more critical mass will arise around them in the next year or so to better connect them to the South End neighborhood, but having Craft right behind them certainly helps in my opinion as they are no longer an island. Some friends and I went out specifically to go to Craft that night, but ended up at Unknown til it closed at 10 because there was no room to breathe inside Craft and it was to cold to comfortably enjoy their patio. After Unknown closed we walked back through the alley to Craft, which had only slightly calmed down, and enjoyed the rest of the evening. It was a great night.
  20. The building on 9th street, opposite UNCC, not the enterprise space has a new tenant planning renovations/upfit so it is likely to stick around for a few years.... http://www.charlottelabschool.org/#/learn-more/whats-new attached drawings of their renovation/plan Charlotte Lab School - 9th street.pdf
