  1. I'm not totally opposed to it. I think mid-block streets would be a good strategy for this area and may (hopefully) spur different scales of development other than the entire block monsters/south end pattern we have been seeing lately.
  2. I would think a Pet Store would kill it here. Would certainly keep me from going to Cotswald.
  3. where did you find the un-photoshopped image? I can find older versions of the same shot/view but not this current one.
  4. thankfully that did not happen that way. Much happier to have the Healthy Home Market instead.
  5. http://www.charlotteobserver.com/2015/01/12/5442350/agreement-close-for-4-million.html#.VLQO5Ewo5ZQ finally some news.
  6. The concrete parking deck for the development on Central Ave. across from Central Coffee started going vertical today. This thing is going to be huge...
  7. I don't mind it, as it is adjacent to the greenway. Personally, I'd like to see this scale permeate up and down Kings Drive from CPCC to the CMC Main Campus. The greenway would have a fabulous frame!
  8. Dixie's is to be preserved and incorporated into the park. I have seen images of how they plan to front the park with it. Think along the lines of the metal outdoor seating at Soul in Plaza Midwood, just larger and facing into the park.
  9. Have to say that i much prefer the older design, but that this will be a great thing to keep building out Morehead, if it happens.
  10. http://www.bizjournals.com/charlotte/news/2014/12/08/charlotte-transit-chief-carolyn-flowers-leaving.html CATS CEO leaving for federal appointment
  11. http://www.bizjournals.com/charlotte/blog/queen_city_agenda/2014/11/charlotte-checkers-returning-to-bojangles-coliseum.html Checkers heading back out to the 'Jangles... Interesting move. It will be nice to see some life back in the old coliseum.
  12. or smaller, more pedestrian friendly things....
  13. A witch! Burn him!!!! nail on the head with this one.
  14. Silver is no longer in Raleigh as he was poached by New York City to Run their Parks Department
  15. transitgasm..... throw in a b-cycle riding by!
  16. Center City Partners administers the Municipal Services District within the I-277 loop and South End, and cannot focus outside of those boundaries as that is the tax pool their funding comes from. The only way that they could extend their reach into the inner ring is if the majority of businesses/residents in an area elect to tax themselves at a special rate so that CCCP services could available in that area.
  17. i stopped in the other day and talked to them. so offices will move up there and they will be expanding the dinning/seating area on the main floor. I'm interested to see what comes of it.
  18. I don't think it is arrogant as much as it is saying that there is a desire for something distinctive. It doesn't have to be groundbreaking but it would be nice if it were something that really created an identity. Closing streets make sense when you already have the existing uses to support significant pedestrian activity. I don't think anyone thinks it is an inherently bad thing, but, especially in the North Tryon area, there is no place (yet) in Uptown that could support that kind of move.
  19. http://www.bizjournals.com/charlotte/blog/real_estate/2014/10/hilton-and-levine-properties-plan-to-bring-new.html Hilton in 1st ward...? I wonder which piece of Levineburg this will occupy?
  20. The city would love to address Graham St. but alas it is a state road for the portion in Uptown..... So....
