  1. You don't think that the Newtowne stop has TOD around? Come on those single family houses, parking lot, and the 7/11(if it's still there) don't give off the essence of TOD to you?
  2. IMO this is a nice looking building, I like the way it incorporates notes of a bus building(specifically with the sign) with modern mixes. It will certainly add some needed density to that area although I do wish it was a couple stories taller.
  3. More people took flights But seriously, there's more destinations available compared to the same period last year, as well as some increases in frequency and just higher load factors.
  4. If that is a casino it having 400 hotel rooms does make sense and there being a residential component definitely makes sense for Cordish to be involved.
  5. 375,062 passengers flew through ORF in March marking a 12.5% increase vs. March 23. Still up 12% YTD and this years total is just over 976k so far which is 104k more than this point in 2023. March-2024-Media-Release (1).pdf
  6. Yeah this looks absolutely great but very generic which makes me think it's conceptual and not alegit proposal from a developer yet. Especially with the lack of firm details being presented. So I will not be holding my breathe but I definitely hope this or something even bigger happens.
  7. Frontier is starting to give ORF some good attention it seems, 2 new destinations this year from them.
  8. ORF's April fools joke ... but honestly not the worst idea.
  9. Royal Caribbean is moving their operations from Baltimore to Norfolk as well. https://www.wavy.com/news/local-news/norfolk/royal-caribbean-temporarily-moving-baltimore-operations-to-norfolk/
  10. A year and a half delay to "substantial" completion. I definitely expected delays but dang that's a big one.
  11. I wouldn't be too stuck on the May date cutting off Carnival from using Norfolk. As Carnival has stated that Norfolk has allowed them to temporarily homeport the Legend here for as long as is necessary. Yes, May is when the Half Moon is scheduled to shut but I'm sure, given the circumstances, the city is either looking at ways to work around it when the ship docks or delaying the work. Honestly, I'm not sure why they didn't plan to either work around the ships or temporarily have them render passengers in from the beginning. Speaking of the work being done, did y'all know that included in it is adding a second dock for ships? I just found this out yesterday from my friend who works in planning. Maybe I saw it and it just didn't compute but that's definitely going to help in getting another ship to homeport in Norfolk.
  12. ORF has never had a SJU route at least not within the last 20 years. Also yes RIC is up by 49k passengers right now. However, if ORF stays on it's 12% growth rate, they're also looking at 5.1M passengers this year. Given the amount of additional destinations coming, I see no reason why a 12% growth rate can't be sustained and surpassed.
  13. As touched on above ORF is currently sitting at ~602k passengers YTD but grew 12% over the same period last year. There has also been, I believe, 8 new routes announced starting this year.
  14. I currently live just a 10min drive from the Key Bridge and it's a frightening scene. However, hopefully the cruises stopping temporarily in Norfolk will show that we can handle more and lead to a further expansion of cruises permanently stopping there.
  15. Here's the report from Wavy, it'll start in October https://www.wavy.com/news/local-news/norfolk/nonstop-flights-to-phoenix-coming-to-norfolk-international-airport-by-end-of-year/ Has the Pensacola, FL breezethru already been stated here?
  16. If ORF can(and I am hoping it will do even better) keep a 12% increase in passengers for the year it will put them at about 5.1M. With the additional service that's been announced thus far, I think we should surpass that.
  17. Imagine what train numbers would look like if we had a route to the South as well.
  18. Does anyone know why the stats aren't out yet? Typically they should have been released last week, but it's almost March and still nothing.
  19. Somehow still not released ...
  20. And speaking of ... the Appeals decision has been delayed due to a judge recusing themselves. https://www.pilotonline.com/2024/02/12/ruling-in-waterside-developers-100-million-casino-lawsuit-delayed-after-appellate-judges-recusal/#nt=taboola-feed
  21. Upping our total of new flight announcements to 5!
  22. Just saw a video on ORF's Facebook showing that in 2015 there were 15 cities 18 airports and 5 airlines serving ORF. Where as now there are 40 cities 48 airports and 8 airlines serving ORF. This is a great success and I can't wait to see how much further we'll be in 9 more years.
  23. Another article on the airport renovations and expansion. Nothing really new in this one, but a general timeline of the work happening this year is stated. https://www.pilotonline.com/2024/02/07/norfolk-airport-planning-nearly-700-million-in-construction-projects-after-record-breaking-2023/
  24. IMO weither the Military development happens or not the extension through there should get built. Shoot it should go all the way to the airport at least... make it part of the renovations.
  25. Princess Cruises is canceling it's 3 stops in Yorktown this year and instead will be stopping in Norfolk. https://www.wavy.com/news/local-news/york-county/princess-cruises-cancels-on-yorktown-now-headed-towards-norfolk/ Not sure if this is going to stick around in coming years but hopefully it does. Having another cruise line with a ship out of Norfolk would be nice.
