  1. To be clear, the Magic have had a lot of failures and fans are right to be pissed. With that said, honestly they haven't done anything MASSIVELY bad in the past 15 years. (The Oladipo/Ibaka trades and the weird Skiles coaching season notwithstanding) Dwight was unhappy, they traded him. Looking back in hindsight, they WON that trade BY FAR This resulted in a team with a lot of 3rd-best players on it. Look around the league. Aaron Gordon and Tobias Harris are flourishing as third-options in DEN and PHL. Vuc is still Vuc in CHI. In NBA world this is purgatory. You're destined to be one of the teams barely missing the playoffs, or making it as a 6-8 seed and getting stomped in the first round. Which is fine for a year or two, but if you stay in that spot, you're screwed. The Hawks have had the same issue a lot. Because the NBA is a superstar league. It's very hard to draft a superstar in the 11-19 draft range. They smartly tore down that team and got MASSIVE assets back. Getting two first round picks for Vuc? AMAZING. They now have a core of star potential players, the presumptive ROY, and 2 lottery picks (their own + Bulls from the Vuc trade), aka tied for the biggest likelihood of getting Wembanyama who is the closest thing to a sure thing since LeBron. The Magic are one of the most exciting young teams in the league right now. They have all the potential and all the assets to either homegrow a superstar or trade for an unhappy one. Yes the owner is awful.
  2. I don't wander in the coffee house often but I noticed I haven't been tagged in anything recently and did some digging and ended up here. This is super sad. I had made a few attempts to meet up but it never worked out.
  3. I think its a circle honestly. The people who enjoyed the Lodge for the past 10 years either moved to the suburbs and had kids or moved to a neighborhood like the ones you mention and its easier to go to a local bar. The next generation of people living and partying downtown simply had minimal interest in The Lodge besides like an hour drop in. It wasn't the hang out all night spot. Things are cyclical. Fuel nd Swiggs are going on 5+ years and Stagger is more popular than even I feel. That's where people are hanging out these days and people are "behaving themselves" just as much as Lodge. We have rose-colored glasses. So many phones and jackets were stolen from Lodge.
  4. I'm guessing segment 2 is being delayed because that's the difficult portion that is double decked?
  5. I only noticed this in the past week, but the old TD Bank on Delaney that moved to Page/Orange has been absorbed by Family Medical Center which is right behind it. Yay/Boo I guess?
  6. What kind of junk aggregator website is this? 7:00 AM ON DECEMBER 16, 2022 Sono Development Group is proceeding with The Signature Orlando At the time of publication, some sources noted that as of December 8, 2022, the project was on hold.
  7. I thought this was BNC for a moment and was VERY confused what in the world you would have needed that for.
  8. I would venture to say the amount of people carrying quarters is less than the amount of people carrying smartphones. Especially now that the parking meters take credit, I don't even keep change in my car. Mildly related, I did a bit of data collection last summer for something I volunteer for, and over 90% of juniors in high school had a smartphone on them. I always do want to be conscious that not everyone is as tech savvy as others, so we can't just default to an app. But in this case, I think we've gone past the fulcrum to which is now more cumbersome.
  9. I'll be heading up in the next week or so to check it out. If you haven't been and you like good Texas/Kansas City/esqe BBQ, I'd definitely try it. Their brisket (from the food truck) is the best I've found locally.

I'm assuming this has to go to MPB or something where we can voice public opposition? This is a travesty.
  11. It's definitely going to be a little bit of an island, but that's how growth starts. I love it. Few updates from walking around the other night... Chai Thai closed... Apparently they have a separate location? Who knew! WalMart Neighborhood Market seems to be pulling an Ale House and rebranding to [CityName] Market and dropping the green color for the traditional blue.
  12. I'm all for Spirit getting out of my airside.
  13. The carpet is literally an MCO signature within the aviation community. They sell socks with the pattern.
  14. Include me in this. I fly AA, so I hadn't seen that side of the airport in over a decade until I took the C shuttle a few weeks ago. So one thing about those computers at airports like MCO is that they are owned by the airport, not the the alrlines. They're common-use. Basically (virtually) any airline can take over (virtually) any check-in counter / gate simply by logging in. As far as physically goes? I can see as renovations/new builds happen, it turns into more of a podium model rather than a counter, similar to what Disney has done at its hotels and theme park entrances.
  15. Exactly. I was in a hotel in Chicago for work and could easily see what was on the tv in the building on the other side of the parking pedestal. It's just normal
  16. I've worked in the airline industry, specifically setting up check-in terminals and kiosks. I was literally in the Willis Tower at United HQ when the cutover from Continental to United happened. There are a variety of reasons why what happened to you and your friend could have happened. None of them are merger related. For example, AA can sell you tickets on United, Delta, JetBlue, and many others. They often won't, but they can. I've seen it happen many times you think you book a ticket THROUGH one airline, but your FLIGHT is on a different airline. This seems like the most likely answer for your specific scenario though. International is often not coupled with Domestic because of gate and plane requirements.
  17. Haha yeah, I like giving Mark a hard time. But they went with the name John & Johns Pizza
  18. Airlines can sell other airlines tickets. This is nothing new or special and has nothing to do with the merger.
  19. Agreed love Chicken Fire. To me that's a bit different genre, but I guess it isn't conceptually.
  20. Cava opened in the old Zoe's. I went at 3PM and it was a ghost town. Food was fine to good-ish. $14 for a Mediterranean version of a less filling chipotle bowl though... ehhh John and Johns by the braintrust of Cavos is soft opened in the old Med Blue. Solid pizza by the slice or pie which we haven't really had in SoDo.
  21. I agree. It's... fine. Zaxby's has better sandwiches/salads. Canes has better sauce.
  22. What do you mean by Skytrain? There is already a train connecting Term C and The AB Main Terminal.
