  2. While we probably will not see eye to eye, hear out a different opinion. One, of many many reasons the houseless don't leave the area, is because the resources needed to survive are in this area: food by handout or cash donation, (temporary and inconsistent) shelter where they cannot remain during the day, a public restroom for basic hygiene needs, a public area where they are not hassled to keep moving and can rest for a moment, (some) kind people who help alleviate the difficulty of being outcast by offering . If you have solutions to address the dramatic rise in the houseless population, in our downtown and throughout the country, I encourage you to become civically involved. I'm certain that blameshifting and denigrating does not thoughtfully solve any of our shared human issues.

  4. My unsuccessful attempt at being facetious The current EA rendering is in fact much shorter.
  5. From the looks in early renderings, the EA mock-up matches almost exactly the ideas set forth in the sales pitch.... was talking with an architect friend who is moving to a larger city where he feels architects are more appreciated. I argued that Orlando needs good architecture and thus architects. This building and much of the cities approvals prove that we need more innovative design. The design could go for more than “not terrible”.
  6. I was hoping for the Crossman folks to adaptive reuse the 533 Brookhaven site. I suppose their is still time to revisit that for this phase 3, but you’re so right, the city already has a history of not asking much as far as historic preservation.
  7. I was thinking the same thing! Does Orlando have any linear parks like that? Was just in San Fran, and Mexico City last year and coveted the green spaces that go for many blocks and provide cool vistas. Maybe they can build a courtyard between both the new buildings that will be eventually constructed giving a good perspective when the park is views from colonial side of lake dot.

  9. On a walk last night. They were welding the trusses in place.
  10. How long has it been since you've visited. Under Gentele's leaderiship, and with Mulford and Gleyzon curating, the programming has improved significantly over the last 4 years. Especially the Florida Prize Show in June, and the traveling exhibits across the board. It was pretty terrible about 10 years ago.

  15. Today I made a left turn from Church onto Osceola without stopping as there is no stop sign, and a woman waiting at the stop began yelling at me out of her window as she had started to pull out and assumed that I should have stopped. It is such a confusing and dangerous intersection.
  16. Vividly remember those fruits getting off of I-4. The citrus, the Booby Trap, and the Jai-alai & Circus-a-gogo on 17-92 were landmark status for me as a kid.

  22. Snapped these driving by today. These units will be above the Earth Fare, I believe.
  23. Also at Lake Druid Park, and Greenwood Urban Wetlands. It would be cool the see the Spanish revival building on the other side of the parking lot near the plot of land proposed for the outdoor space, repurposed for something. Those bricked in windows look a bit unwelcoming. I wonder if they could work out some deal for that building in the future and incorporate it into the parklet, adding other amenities like a playground, or splash zone, or chess tables, or a bocce court, or a fountain, to further activate that corner... .
  24. Orlando is mentioned here in the "New South" category of sunbelt cities who are quickly urbanizing and diversifying. https://www.citylab.com/equity/2017/08/a-new-typology-of-american-neighborhoods/538284/?utm_source=SFFB
