  1. This will have a huge impact on downtown but downtown Orlando streets are way narrow to handle any kind of traffics.
  2. An Orlando article today has an hint on where the arena will locate, Why would Orlando pay $600,000 for this house? The city plans to spend $6.8 million on this and 4 other parcels in Parramore. Mark Schlueb {sodEmoji.|} Sentinel Staff Writer Posted July 26, 2006 ....."Another possibility would put the land at the center of Dyer's push for new downtown venues. Some city officials, including Commissioner Daisy Lynum -- who represents Parramore -- want a new National Basketball Association arena built at the corner of West Church Street and Hughey Avenue.".... http://www.orlandosentinel.com/news/local/...-home-headlines ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I think this location make sense since there are a lot of empty land there with many houses with no historical value. And the arena can feed off the existing entertainment from 55 West, PTP. and it is closer to the bar too. A streetcar can also be built to join the PAC going thru Churh Street to the stadium, this will eliminating building many garages for parking. They can all use the same garage.
  3. Give that building to WalMart, then maybe we can have the largest Walmart in the world.

I dont think there is a private rail line for passenger, but there is CSX. If they can build a line to run freights to make money, I am sure someone can run a rail line to move people around and make money. Anyhow, is the monorail in Las Vegas considered a private rail line?

Instead of doing that, I would suggest creating an urban development boundary and make it illegal to develop land outside the area, something similar to Portland. This will encourage redevelopment of under-utilize land within boundary. Charging premium fees for developer that want to develop in outlaying area. Just one thing I would like to ask, can they not speed up the train line building process by selling the right to build rail to a private company. So the entire rail line will be managed by private company and the state and county has no reponsibility on it. The county can also make it more lucartive to the developer by selling land adjacent to the station to the developer at lower price to cover their cost.
  6. Even if the tax passed now, the PAC wont breakground till 2008 or 2009 right? Or they are still going for 2007?

  10. If they build a new one, the old one will become a very potential building for redevelopment. Hopefully into a world class museum, downtown conference center or a mall.

  17. The Emerson plaza condo right next to I4 is a very horrible looking building. Looks like one of those old condo building in downtown Orlando. I guess we will have to welcome Altamonte Spring to the 1980s.

Is there an estimate date on when the theater will open?
  19. that's a private investment and Orlando investment would be public.
  20. In Orlando masterplan 2020, downtown Orlando are going to have a downtown conference center and Orange County will only agree to let Orlando build it if Orlando promises that it is not going to compete with OCCC. And when they first considering building the OCCC back then, downtown is one of the 3 locations that they considered to put it.

Instead of bulldoze those neightborhood, i think it would be better just to close off sections of the street and transform the old houses into retails, restaurant or museum to create a Lincoln Road type of retail center with old Florida houses.
