  1. This website might have been posted before, but it gives a good description of the park and a good synopsis of each separate component. After looking through the plans again, I cannot wait to spend a day here and then head to a Knights game. http://beardenfoundation.org/supportbeardenpark/bearden_park_design.html
  2. I hope that proposed hotel has some strong masonry and windows. Wouldn't it get constant pelting from home runs and foul balls?
  3. This thread is back, again! There are some projects in the University City area that I feel deserve mentioning: This Crescent Resources development is going on Mallard Creek Church Road, across from Trader Joe's and rezoning has been approved. Plans call for office space, retail, apartments and a hotel. Wonder when it will start construction. http://charmeck.org/...s/2011-036.aspx Aspen Heights and its cottage-style student apartments: http://charmeck.org/...s/2012-057.aspx Circle at UNC-Charlotte, which has gotten some serious flak from local residents. http://charmeck.org/...s/2012-010.aspx There is also a new Chipotle that is being built on a parcel of Mallard Pointe across from the University which looks like will include an expanded Starbucks from the one currently in Mallard Pointe. There are other apartment projects that I know of, like the Highland Creek apartments, but I haven't found a link yet.
  4. That does sound pretty silly, thank you for the recommendation, I will definitely keep that in mind.
  5. I plan on going to the game on May 12 for my birthday...looking forward to another sports experience in Charlotte. Any tips on where to sit, parking, etc?
  6. I still think the Charlotte Knights should team up with DC Comics and name the team the "Dark" Knights of Charlotte...wishful thinking I know..but still would be pretty sweet...
  7. There is a Sheetz off of Jake Alexander and 85 in Salisbury, that one might be closer for some
  8. Welcome to the neighborhood!...the saucer is still the best spot up here
  9. I agree that it was a great win and Biyombo is going to be a lot better than that Ajinca guy. I feel that these cats have a nice nucleus to build around (Biyombo, Henderson, Walker) and can only get better with another high draft pick.
  10. This may have been brought up before, but since the Charlotte area is home to two U.S. Presidents (Jackson, Polk), I've always wondered why there hasn't been some sort of statue or monument constructed around the uptown area. I know that they both have very little ties politically to the area, but I've always thought it'd be nice to have something where history buffs like myself could learn about them in a more central location (they both have memorials near their respective birthplaces). Were they selected to be apart of the LSC greenway statue stroll?
  11. I'm still astonished it's taking so long for Sheetz to enter Charlotte proper
  12. Taco Mac is close to opening in the former Texas Land and Cattle spot in University City. The "Coming Soon" and "Now Hiring" signs are up. Looking forward to being closer to one.
  13. Here are some pictures from this past weekend
  14. So does this make hotel number 4? With the other ones being Residence Inn, Hilton Garden, and Great Wolf Lodge.
  15. They have started to do a little advertising recently by putting up a kiosk center in front of Sun and Ski Sports at Concord Mills. They have some souveniers and brochures of the center. I am just wondering though, if this is a permanent fixture or just temporary.
  16. I just hope Derita Rd. gets widened in the near future because it is going to be back-up city when Lowes and Wal-Mart open up.
  17. I have a question: When the trolley re-opens, is it going to "get in the way" so to speak, of the light rail trains?
  18. I too was intent on riding the rails on its inaugural day so my friend and I parked at 7th Street Station and boarded the train at the station there. We rode the line all the way down to 485 and then took the line all the way back north. We saw some very packed train cars heading southbound when we were heading north, and this was about 10pm. I was very impressed with everything that the light rain line had to offer, I just wish I could use it on a daily basis. From what I have read in previous posts, I would say that CATS has had a very successful first day of service and I hope that people going to the Panthers game tomorrow will use the line.
  19. I will unfortunately be there on black friday in the afternoon/evening, but I will be at work for another black friday at Concord Mills
  20. ^^wow, that pic took my breath away, I love the glow of the city against a dark night
  21. The new Children's Place is now opened in the former Jeepers Creepers spot and it is a huge store. They are now upfitting the former Childern's Place spot for the new Disney Outlet. Anybody going to the midnight opening of the mall on Black Friday?
  22. If that is the case, then I guess the Bobcats will be the People's champion
  23. hmmm, I wonder where in the mall this will go, anybody got any ideas?
  24. Krazeeboi....Nice pics of the "forgotten tower"....I have always loved two things about this building..1) the top of the building and 2)the fact that people seem to forget about it
