  1. Wouldn't the flood wall be in the capital budget? Different pot of money than the operating budget where raises would come from. Of course, the interest to service the capital debt comes from the operating budget.
  2. This is Dan Heller's project. Same guy who had the WeWorks building built. He has said he has some occupants already lined up, but is keeping it under his hat. There was once talk of a chicken in waffle shop going in somewhere in the building, but I don't know if that is still in the works.
  3. I knew as soon as I saw the news flash that I was in for another several months-years of UP Tony-worshiping, fanboy lather. ; ) I saw Tony and Tom Turner from the Downtown Partnership nosing around the area some time ago, so I've been expecting this. I'll miss the park (condescending Metro quotes aside, not everyone who works or lives downtown is afraid of homeless people, who, BTW, will just move around the corner to the "improved" green space). I'll also miss the view from my office (assuming he doesn't buy and demolish my building as part of the package). And I can't say I'm looking forward to yet more blasting, but Church St. is CBD and this is probably a better use for the lot. I'll reserve my judgement until I know more about the plan.
  4. And there is also Italia across from Lockeland Table and the Pizza Real across from the library. The historic Carnegie library at 5 Points is nice, but also small.
  5. Nice, but I'm bummed that my cut through home from Vandy will undoubtedly be blocked or closed for construction for an eternity.
  6. Gee, I wonder which car dealers and limo company owners are behind this site?
  7. 400 Deaderick, though there is also an entrance across from Music City Central. Emporis entry for Citizens Plaza
  8. I was just in the Senate Finance, Ways and Means Committee listening to a presentation on the capital budget. A few items of note: The state is looking to sell Citizens Plaza sometime around October. The state, as rumors suggested, is looking to turn the old Legislative Plaza space into an additional level of garage parking. They might keep a few large meeting rooms there. The John Sevier Building (also called the SOB for state office building) will be renovated. Agencies in that building will temporarily move to the War Memorial Building. War Memorial will in turn be renovated in the near future for use by other state agencies. TPAC is interested in expanding into the space that will be vacated by the state museum when it moves out of the base of the Polk Tower. Oh, and if I heard right, they expect the new Archives building in the Sulphur Dell area to be done in 2019. I may have misheard that.
  9. Capitol View in North Gulch filling in. Taken from base of Snodgrass Tennessee Tower.
  10. I think some were opposed because they felt it was a story too high; others were opposed because of the short-term rental component. Others just oppose any development. I like it now that they are painting the unfortunately underwhelming brick.
  11. I think Google decided not to wait for the lawsuit, gave up on pole attachments, and went the narrow trench route instead. I just got my notice that they are ready to come complete my installation and start my service, so they aren't giving up.
  12. Great pictures. I visited the lobby on Friday. It knocked my socks off. Gorgeous.
  13. Anybody know what the construction is on Charlotte across the connector from 1City? I think it is HCA land.
  14. Well, Madison is just a Nashville neighborhood, but you are right in that the city line between Goodlettsville and Nashville runs right through the mall. Looks like the bigger chunk is in Nashville. The Target there is split as well.
  15. The image doesn't seem to be loading. Good luck on this project; excited to see some higher density development on that site. Now if someone will just do something with the old Mrs. Winner's site.
  16. Yeah, I've been hearing it's "next year" every year since I moved to East 5 years ago.
  17. Here's the link to their Campus Planning and Construction office: http://www.cpc.vanderbilt.edu/
  18. I had to quit following the East Nashville Facebook page a few years ago. Griping for the sake of griping.
