  1. sounds like they're going to be turning some of those large meeting areas into useable space. This is great, because Devos Place, and the new JW were going to saturate the market anyway. Plus GR could use another Sports Bar
  2. Here is a little bit better explaination of the site Bingo.
  3. You are talking about the JA building correct? the reason the HPC is putting a big fight for it is because I think its one of the few Art Deco buildings left in the city.
  4. Thats not all that hard... You would need some utility scale batteries, some flywheels, and capacitors (giant, giant ones) with enough insulators and other protection devices to make sure the grid doesnt explode each time lightning strikes. http://peswiki.com/index.php/Directory:Lightning_Power thats an interesting article to read on lightning power.
  5. I just think it'd be weird with red glass, then clear glass in the same building ya know?
  6. there ya go. still red in the front, but the main color on that side (although is it easy to get a curved face like that if its not glass?)
  7. Its kinda boring right now but for a half hour aint bad: The dull red parts would be red tinted glass, to symbolize the red of the Calder Sculpture.
  8. the boondocks? The calder would not be torn down if the PAC is built on the county's site (see GRdad's first pic)
  9. I'm diggin' the second one man... I think that would go really well with whats already there in terms of the ability to construct with minimal demolition.
  10. Devos Hall would become the exclusive host to the GR symphony I'd imagine. It won't be demolished unless the convention center needs to expand into it.
  11. That would be an Icon if it were in Downtown GR, like the Gateway Arch, or the Space Needle. I'd put that sucker right on the river.
  12. Personally, I think MDOT could have designed a better bridge... is this going where metro is now I take it?
  13. The three or so on Alpine should be opening soon if they arent already.
  14. You think Rafael Vinoly would do the MSU campus too if it goes next to VAI? might help tie-in the VAI to the area if it had a similar design nearby.
  15. I was talking about the Devos Campus. Some people might say its timeless others (such as myself) say its sort of "meh" but anyway I'm not here to debate that. I'd be very upset if MSU pulled a GVSU and put its campus in a sea of parking smack dab in some prime real estate.
  16. I like the idea of an urban campus, to be honest I think the GVSU's urban-lite campus downtown left a huge scar on some very valuable, and bed-rock sturdy riverfront land. I really don't want another GVSU-style development downtown, I'd be happy if MSU took a page from WMU, and not GVSU.
  17. I think you could say that if they build next to VAI, they won't have to build as large of a building then if they had to build elsewhere. Thats just my interpretation.
  18. Interesting, I don't know a whole lot about art, but I didn't think you see too many printed canvases.
  19. I don't think I'm helping much with this
  20. I just saw those Monday while traveling on West 96 (Theres two more cranes for you )
  21. The words "IT'S ALIVE!!!" come to mind
