  1. There hasn't been any talk of the the old post office becoming a city hall. However the County has been talking about moving the courts out of the complex and building a new judical center some where in downtown. I think after the courts leave it will free up room within the building so there will be no need for either the city or the county to build a new building or by one for sometime. Also old post office is currently home to several diffrent law firms so I doubt they will be leaving anytime soon. OLD FLORENCE CITY HALL THE BUILDING IN QUESTION

  4. newflorfordt, As it was stated a few weeks ago First Reliance Bank is planning on building a mixed use complex in Florence. This project would seem MUCH better suited for downtown. This would be a chance to take a major step in redeveloping downtown. While the city considers the new library and maybe the Performing Arts Center biggest event that will help redevelop downtown, this office building would show people that downtown is moving back to a central place to do business. Why doesn't the planning commission and the Downtown commission somehow develop a plan to convince FRB to build downtown and be a key part in bringing back downtown Florence? It would mean a big thing for them publicity. While Bellsouth is really currently the only major corporation located in downtown, after the AT&T merger Fleet Operations building will most likely be vacated for a building out west such as in Texas or in Oklahoma where the current AT&T center is located, since a memo was distributed to workers to be prepared to move or find another job. This would be a chance to offer something different to downtown; bringing workers back to the CENTRAL BUSINESS DISTRICT as well as add a jewel to the downtown skyline.
