  1. Drove by the old Fuddruckers this morning and the construction trailor is gone. Maybe financing for the expansion fell through or fell short.
  2. Does anyone know the status of Buzz & Neds expansion to the former Fuddrucker's location on W. Broad? I haven't noticed any construction activity in over a month.
  3. Quaker Steak & Lube opened on W. Broad St (in the old Bennigans location) about 3 months ago.
  4. I appreciate the link. Will be interesting to see if this project movers forward. I hope some retail is included.
  5. Does anyone know what might be planned for the block on Semmes Ave between 9th and & 10th Streets (next to UPS FRT HQ)? I heard there are/were plans for a mulit-level, mixed-use development. Workers were out yesterday taking soil samples.
  6. I totally agree Spartan. Maybe the architects don't want to go too far out on the creative limb for fear of ruffling the BAR's feathers.
  7. The BAR will be reviewing plans for a new 115 hotel on Meeting St. at this week's meeting. Architectural designs begin on page 91. Also, though technically I think this is southside of Calhoun St., BAR will be reviewing plans for a new 4 story office building. Architectural designs begin on page 16. http://www.charlesto...resentation.pdf
  8. Also, Gildan Activewear has started operations: http://www.postandcourier.com/news/business/
  9. I tend to be on the side that would prefer not to see too many new hotels. I would rather see more land designated for high density housing. A 9-12 floor condo project on the East Bay/Calhoun corner would be nice. Put retail on the ground level, parking on levels 2 & 3 and housing units on the upper floors.
  10. Looks like it's not one big happy family afterall: http://www.postandcourier.com/news/2009/ju...g_council90997/
  11. Unfortunately, some of these projects will be put on-hold forever.
  12. That's understandable. But maybe that space could be used as a temporary extension of Marion Sq., dedicated for additional space for the Farmers Market until construction gets started on the hotel (which could be years away).
  13. I would love to see the property owner(s) of the old County Library proceed with razing the building. I realize contruction of the new Hilton is not on the horizon, but that library building is, IMHO, one of worse eyesores DT. If nothing more, if they razed the this building the land could be used as a temporary parking lot or used to expand the farmers market until construction gets underway. The Hilton will be a great addition to that area once built! I like the architectural drawings that I've seen.
  14. Thanks! I just recently found this forum and have enjoyed reading all the threads/posts!
  15. I just did alittle quick research. The Sportman's Shop was located at 79 Wentworth!
  16. Well I know the Sportmans shop was on Wentworth. It was in business there a number of years. When I was young my dad would take me there to get my athletic gear and I think we got our team uniforms from there too. There may have been a N Chuck location too.
