  1. I stayed in the JW Marriott in downtown LA last week and left very impressed. I'm really excited about this project!
  2. Here's a link to the power point presentation from Monday's Envision Cayce meeting. https://gallery.mailchimp.com/afb0c27ebab8b8df2e6c47f67/files/Envision_Cayce_update_051815v1.pdf
  3. Has Sub Stop already closed? I was just telling some coworkers we needed to go one last time!
  4. *I haven't mastered embedding images so apologies if it didn't work. use [ i m g ] rather than [ u r l ] in the coding. Or use the picture icon (below the smiley icon). -UTGrad
  5. I have seen that and it looks very out of place. I feel bad for anyone living across the street from them that will have to look at them every time they walk out their front door. That being said, it is a tough property to develop and they are making the most out of it, or at least making the most money off of it, so I have mixed feelings about it. Every little bit helps I guess, I just wish they'd done something that fit in with the vibe of the surrounding blocks a little better.
  6. Was anyone able to attend or have an update from the Envision Cayce community meeting today at the Martha O'Brian Center? I was planning on attending but got tied up at work.
  7. Last night I spent 40 minutes stuck in a parking garage that was backed up to the 7th floor due to the road closure on Broadway. With all the new buildings downtown coming online with dedicated garages at what point will the volume of commuter traffic gridlock the downtown area on a regular basis? It already happens on occasion when there are big events, and I know Pinnacle has a police officer out helping traffic exit that garage. Also is there a solution? Will just reprograming the traffic lights do it? For the record normally when traffic is backed up 3 or more levels in the garage I just park my car a go grab a drink at one of the many fine establishments downtown!
  8. Sounds like a step in the right direction! Hopefully they can get the Envision Cayce proposal going although I haven't heard anything about it since that last big update which I think was almost a year ago. Does anyone know of any continuing progress being made behind the scenes of what the next steps are?
  9. I said jokes aside then immediately post more jokes, that was wrong. I'll try to keep my post more on topic.
  10. You just have to twist the boot at the right angle as the beer is flowing down and you're all good. Am I the only one who has seen that movie? Jokes aside, it is a dick move but if they own the property it's there prerogative as BB would say. If they are getting into that game though Cumberland Machine Co. should move to 12th South because they would make bank!
  11. We went there as a party of four for new years and even though they were running a limited menu they got three of the four orders wrong, or waitress seemed to be a bit of crack head, she even accidentally stuck her finger in one of our drinks when placing it on the table. The food was only so so and service was unacceptable when you are spending over $500 for dinner. We joked on the way there that we could just eat a CookOut because one in our party hadn't tried it, it turns out we'd have been better off doing that. My friend who's idea it was to go there was so embarrassed he picked up the tab for the table. Awesome building though, really cool old school vibe, it made me want to like the place but I doubt I'll ever go back.
  12. I thought the same thing in 2008 about Germantown when I was looking for a place. In the summer you could really smell it so I passed on that area. Doh! I think they've done some upgrades to that plant and the smell isn't as bad now though.
  13. On the one hand I hate to see Family Wash leave the current location because it is such a cool spot, however every little bit helps on that stretch of Main and this will surely be an improvement.
  14. If I can get my morning chores done I'm going to try to make it. I've never actually been to a meet before but always wanted to check it out!
  15. If they had marketed the AMP's route as being from the West End Cook Out to the East Nashville Cook Out it would have been green lit already!
  16. The Cook Out in East Nashville is now open.
  17. I'd love to see a good sports bar or restaurant like a Sam's or Toot's go in there.
  18. How big of a problem will the end of game fireworks be for the dogs of Germantown? Is it an issue now for those that live around the stadium? Also, "Dogs of Germantown" would make a good band name.
  19. Wow. That really dwarfs The Cumberland. Awesome! Thanks for posting.
  20. I miss Zackie's! They made a good dog and were always really nice. I remember hoping they would stay in business long enough for the condos to develop around them but I guess you have to sell a lot of hot dogs.
  21. I'm for it in theory but I'd want to see a detailed plan to know for sure. The center lane between 5th and 5 Points does seem under utilized so losing that to add bike lanes wouldn't be too bad. If you lost the left turn lanes at the 5th/Woodland intersection traffic would back up really bad in the afternoon from everyone trying to turn left. That being said, if they do build bike lanes I would use them a good bit so I hope they can come up with something that works for everyone! That stretch can be an adventure on a bike.
