  1. Dreamchasers situation is a bit different than a traditional struggle. They tried to buy the building and had funding approved but the current landlord bought the building over what it appraised for (which they couldn't do with a loan) knowing what their lease situation was. Brewery owners said the landlord has been trying to get them out since the purchase. They decided to retire and sell the business rather than deal with the landlord anymore who clearly didn't want them. Landlord then denies the new owner a lease (they were apparently willing to pay the increased rent). Now the brewery owners are scrambling to close up and sell the equipment. Sounds more like a "F-this, I'm out" situation than one that couldn't keep profitable. The landlord sounds wonderful. Joe Bruno reporting someone died at the Southend location today as a result of a fall.
  2. DreamChasers brewery in Waxhaw is closing up next month. Rent increase was too much. They had a buyer lined up but the landlord wouldn't approve it because the new owners "didn't have business ownership experience". That is a shame for Waxhaw as I know a lot of residents frequented it often. I have a been a few times (when I am out that way already) and it was usually busy. https://www.facebook.com/Dreamchasersbrewery/posts/pfbid026o29qt1CdebsdSMDxwGUh5BdDo Also...something going on with Wooden Robot. They have closed both taprooms until further notice
  3. Lets not get crazy saying Levine is going to build a 125' apartment on that site. He got it rezoned, in all likelihood, just to increase the property value like he does for all his sites. I am sure it will continue to be a pay parking lot for the foreseeable future.
  4. Greenway Construction: Ryder Ave to 51. Lots of work being done on the parking lot along 51. Not sure if this will be a staging area for construction since it is on the other side of the creek from most construction…but they are working hard there. LOT of deep mud near the 51 underpass.
  5. The secrecy on this one is weird. For years they needed an indoor facility. Then they remove the one they have, do a vague "practice fields / accessory building" rezoning, and now just have more outdoor fields and no inside facility. Back to practicing in the ballroom I guess. LOL. You have to assume Tepper has his eye building an indoor facility somewhere right? Heck this is a step back. Why would we need three full size practice fields w/o an indoor field? I am have been to Wofford for camp and can't ever remember them using three fields at once. I mean some guys might be rehabbing on the one field but that's about it. We go from construction of a state of the art practice facility to removing an indoor facility, adding a grass field and moving a parking lot.
  6. Folks stand on a 18" wide concrete bump in the middle of 51 and Carmel. One time off balance and someone is going to run over them and be scarred for life. It doesn't phase me if people are panhandling on the side of the road or whatever. But on a tiny sliver of concrete on 51 with cars flying by? GTFU.
  7. For those of you the frequent the greenway between Trader Joes and 51 (Lower McAlpine, McMullen, and Four Mile Creek Greenways)...I was emailing Katie Lloyd (Greenway Planner) and they got funding for fiscal '26/27 to start replacing the wood boardwalks on that section with the concrete boardwalks that they build now. This is fantastic news! I run this greenway regularly and can say these wooden boardwalks are downright dangerous with any combo of rain/mud/leaves. Even my dogs were slipping all over the place on our run this weekend. I have seen bikers wipe out. I have fallen countless times while running. They never left enough space in between the boards and it just becomes one big slip and slide. The textured concrete ones are worlds better, especially seeing how that section floods regularly and mud just sits on the boardwalk until it dries up in the heat. Construction is heating up on the 51-Johnston connector. Trees are cleared, stumps are ground, erosion control in place along the new greenway and new parking lot on 51. They will have to build an underpass under 51 but the rest is pretty straight forward. Lot of boardwalk on the southern half of the connection so it won't be fast. When looking at the construction plans, I see they are NOT using an old Charlotte Water service road as it is actually on the apartment property. I always assumed they would use that utility road as it goes almost halfway to Johnston Rd and would have saves a lot of time but I guess building new is cheaper than buy/using that land.
  8. Right? And still have 3 council members vote no. You could sit there and jack off onto Tryon St and nothing anyone could do. It's one thing for cops to look the other way on some of these but for cops to no have any authority to do anything when it is disturbing people is crazy.
  9. Their website is a lesson in why you shouldn't let neighboring Smithfield Elementary 2nd graders design your website for a school project.
  10. Remember when we were in "MULTIPLE OFFER SITUATION!"? 6 months later it is still owned by DeeDee and not a peep.
  11. According to some on Reddit, they have made no plans to secure a new site and have known for a long time they were leaving. So that sounds like the end of Blue Blaze. Never went even though I am sorta over that way occasionally. The beers I have from them were fine, just not something I go out of my way for in our brewery landscape. Without a taproom, no one is buying their canned offerings for long. They seems like a good neighbor but you also have to make enough money to pay rent.
  12. Is he even a developer? Developers build things. DANIEL LEVINE: "I’D RATHER DO NOTHING THAN NOT DO IT WELL"
  13. The Marlin Bar looks like a good concept for that spot. We do like some beach cocktails at this house. Suffolk Punch for beer, Reid’s for wine and Marlin Bar for Cocktails, all in one spot.
  14. I would have to go back and lookup what I did before, but they are at least expanding the baggage area to like 8+ carousels (running perpendicular to how they go now). That alone should at least make the wait better and less congested. I assume all the new additions will mean new infrastructure in the backend. While I always complain it takes too long, every time I say I will go get the car in Long Term and have my wife wait for the checked bag...she texts me before I typically gotten to the car and it would have been faster to wait and not circle back LOL.
  15. Just booked a flight to Houston in late April for $158 on Frontier. For all the competition to Houston, I could rarely ever find a cheap long weekend flight. Southwest always had "deals" but I could never catch a good one. Same schedule for these flights on AA was $378. Its just a long weekend so I just taking a small backpack.
  16. If the tailgates are anything like they were when I played in college (club), this should be a LOT of fun. Although I think I am a little too old to be running around drunk and naked anymore lol.
  17. I saw the ad Weathered Souls had for the taproom: it advertised "never used" brewhouse. It's possible they had a pilot system but they newer brewed up a full batch of anything. Pulled this from a FB group I am part of: "Have an updated tap list on untapped. . Have bottles that you sell in San Antonio in Charlotte. Have a Charlotte only bottle release. Have Charlotte only brewed beers. Have your membership include Charlotte. Cut your price from $10 for 5 oz. You will sell more. Lots of ways to improve your brand." - The owner Marcus agreed with all of that except the price for the stouts.
  18. Midnight Mulligan must have disappeared like a fart in the wind. Don't remember seeing anything about it shutting down. I never got to Weathers Souls (even though I really like their BBA stouts). But with 5 parking spots and dogs not allowed, I found other places to go.
  19. If I had to guess, someone is paying him to do backhoe training vs Levine paying someone to improve one of his properties for any reason.
  20. How the heck are they getting 2500 additional seats in the lower bowl? Are they getting rid of all the royal box seats I assume?
  21. They learned their US geography from the NFL.
  22. Just had a work Christmas party and were talking with a couple from Connecticut. They (middle age couple) asked where we were from and we said Charlotte. He asked what state is that in. "Charlotte, North Carolina...you know, Panthers, Hornets, etc". "Oh yeah! I feel bad for you, the Panthers stink, I'm a Pats fan". This coming when the Pats were 2-10. LOL People in New England area have always been oblivious to anything out of the northeast and I don't see that changing anytime soon!
  23. lol. I don’t think any of us really thought Wegmans would want to partner with Levine. That area needs a grocery store but what letdown that it’s just a big teeter.
  24. The delay was for BofA to relocate because the Publix is going in their spot (BofA moved into the new spot a month ago). I drove by this a few days ago on the way to the vet and there is a ton of construction stuff on site but I didn't notice any concrete being poured yet.
