  1. The State Legislature should be embarrassed about such a proposed amendment. It really shows the integrity that some people have. We have a serious traffic issue in Nashville and it's only going to get more difficult as more people move to our great city. If you don't like the proposed idea, propose something better.
  2. Lol. City Winery chose this location for future potential. Envisioned the surrounding area developing in the next 5-10, and the possibility the Mission will move at some point. They could have a great piece of land with great outdoor dining/wining potential in the long run... Not sure about the renderings. Looks kind of 'plasticy' to me. Hope it ends up looking first class.
  3. SoBro-Gulch pedestrian bridge update http://www.tennessean.com/article/20140218/NEWS0202/302180130/Council-slows-mayor-s-progress-Gulch-SoBro-pedestrian-bridge
  4. I agree. And they should definitely extend all the way to 2nd(or the idea of connecting Lindsley with Lafayette). The street grid needs improvement in this area for future development.
  5. Lots of traffic gets off at the 2nd Ave Exit. Why aren't they continuing the extension from Division to 2nd? In terms of long term planning, this doesn't seem like a very wise decision (a miss on a big opportunity for really enhanced connectivity). Hopefully the designers haven't finalized anything and may still seize on this opportunity.
  6. Peabody should really consider locating themselves on Peabody St...a couple blocks from the MCC. It'd only be appropriate.
  7. http://www.bizjournals.com/nashville/blog/2013/12/truck-terminal-sells-for-17-million.html?s=image_gallery 5+ acre rundown site sells for 1.7m on Fesslers Lane. I wonder what these investors are planning...
  8. Great news! This area is sooo close to downtown...it'll be great to see it develop over the next decade...
  9. That'll be a huge improvement when Division is extended. Are they planning on fixing the street grid as well (i remember it mentioned somewhere in the Plan for SoBro)? How some of the streets just dead end without connecting (Lindsley) and don't connect well (many) together is definitely a hindrance to the traffic flow in this area.
  10. Drove by and saw the red lights on the Omni the other day...looked really good. This building just continues to grow on me...
  11. Wow. What a beautiful building! If I was a major corporation considering relocating to Nashville, this building would be at the top of my list...
  12. Haven't heard about the Westin resurfacing around the MCC (wouldn't be surprised), but have heard rumors about another potentially large mixed use project around the MCC (and this is on top of the potential of something big developing at the Methodist site). The MCC really has sparked a fire in this area.
  13. Article in NBJ this morning on how building a minor league stadium almost never works out economically If this thing gets built I really hope it's with very minor public investment. We've got the Titans and Predators (that's a lot for a city our size). IMO only so much public money (not everyone is into sports...) should be used for "entertainment" purposes that will likely not have a net beneficial economic impact Mass transit, infrastructure, and street scape/green space improvement with the funds please
  14. Cool, so they can change the lighting around...sounds like that would allow for some creativity with different events happening
  15. With all the progress this administration is determined on achieving, I wouldn't be surprised if they try to sneak in the redevelopment of the PSC site before the Mayor's term is up...
  16. I don't understand how Dean is justifying spending 10's of millions of taxpayer dollars on a minor league team, when we already have two professional teams...which is a lot to support for a city our size as is... Seems like the money could be better used for infrastructure improvements and transit, or streetscaping areas to make our city more beautiful and attractive to live in...
  17. I agree. The interior feel is really important. I know they're planning wide aisles(much more user friendly than a standard bus...) but I think your idea of single row seating along the walls (at least for a good portion of the bus) with passenger standing room in these areas would be terrific (assuming it doesn't encourage pickpocketing, etc)...
  18. I agree. I'm thankful Dean has been as ambitious and forward thinking as he has. IMO, he's stuck his neck out and has done a great service for Nashville...
  19. 98% rental occupancy downtown?! Wow, had no idea the market was that strong. Bodes well for more residential downtown in the future, and with that retail/restaurant/etc... Anybody have any idea if city planners are planning any more green space/tree plantings downtown? Would make it all the more inviting...
  20. Gotcha, it's interesting all the behind the scenes work that's required to get these projects off the ground...had no clue it took Hensler almost 5 yrs to bring his project to fruition...
  21. Just curious. Why was Hensler able to get his apartment project moving more quickly than other projects in the area? It seems like other apartment projects(SoBro, etc) take more time to get out of the ground. I'm unfamiliar with the dynamics of this industry, so was his project just less ambitious and easier to get financed? Or does he just have the skill set to get projects moving quicker?
  22. I agree...doing a great job streetscaping the new Division St connector would be wise and fruitful investment to encourage development in this area. I'd continue the streetscaping all the way to where it connects into Ash and the Howard office building. It would really bring some life and energy into this area of downtown... Exciting times in Nashville!
  23. Put this further south on 5th where you can do a true mixed use development with museum, HOB, retail, hotel, and don't have to retrofit everything(surface lots)...convention center and hotels next door will provide a solid customer base... Would be a cool development if done well.
