  1. I am posting in this thread (note I also replied to a comment from a few years ago in the Charlotte Off Topic thread): I am surprised that there hasn't been any posting or news on the fact that Zipcar is uptown! Perhaps I missed something on its arrival (not sure how long it has been uptown). Granted its only 1 car (located in the Element apartments on Romare Bearden). Both my wife and I have used it several times and it is great for our needs. I also periodically track the availability of this car and have been pleased to see that it has been unavailable several times due to reservations from other people.

  3. HB2, however, affects everything. If this thing is still on the books around the time any league is deciding of expansion, it will definitely be a factor. Charlotte has reached such a tipping point and I worry everyday that the fiasco that has been HB2 has pulled us back from that tipping point.
  4. McCrory just signed executive order # 93 which expands the state's employment policy to cover sexual orientation and gender identity. This only covers state employees though. http://myfox8.com/2016/04/12/mccrory-signs-executive-order-addressing-hb2-concerns/
  5. Unrelated to the accident on Saturday, I think it is strange that there is no published schedule for the gold line. I don't mind the 20 minute frequency but I would like to be able to use my time efficiently and not guess whether it comes in 1 minute or 19 minutes. I have ridden it several times with my wife and daughter (primarily to Earl's - awesome spot) and was pleased to find out that Google transit has the gold line schedule and has been accurate (within 2 minutes) each time going both directions. I have ridden several different times (peak and non-peak times) and Google maps was correct each time! I am very excited about this and thought others would be interested to know as well.
  6. Yes, we got the same email. I work for Deloitte and they sent it to the whole building.
  7. In line now actually! The line wraps down MLk, up Graham, then back down Fourth! People are very excited!
  8. Some photos of the Balfour Beatty project in gateway village.
  9. http://m.youtube.com/watch?v=XbhwGaogyPQ&desktop_uri=%2Fwatch%3Fv%3DXbhwGaogyPQ Got this from SkyscraperCity Atlanta forum. It's SkyHouse in Midtown and the video does a good job of showing all of the retail spots in the garage. I know ours has the same retail spots in the garage, so is the Midtown Atlanta set-up exactly how ours is? Try this link
  10. Don't know how new these are but noticed these this morning when walking the dog in fourth ward. They are half a block from Alexander Michaels http://media.helenadamsrealty.com/files/development/1122/1703/Victoria_on_Pine/
  11. Going tonight. Just bought tickets online, looks like they changed the layout of the theatre based upon the online seating chart (assuming it is correct).
  12. Do they still have any Jalapeno at Birdsong? I can't seem to get a hold of it every time I go to fill up a growler.
  13. I just recently joined as well. Love it. The card however does not work at the machine, you actually scan at the individual bike slot. This makes it much more convenient. Just push the silver button on the slot then scan the card. It should release the bike!
  14. Both Bland St. and East West Station already have stations there just no bikes yet.
  15. The event this Monday, Oct 31st is a press conference for the new Northeastern campus. The Lt Governor will be there as well as Anthony Foxx.
  16. I like this idea of a TacoMac, that could do well. I have also considered the possibility of a Whole Foods in this space, it is certainly large enough for a grocery store. My apartment overlooks Jillian's and there has been some minor activity inside over the past few days. It may just be some minor clean-up of the inside although I have not seen any activity in it since they closed.
  17. I do not know about the other SouthEnd Apartment apartments but Circle is over 90% full not 49%, I know the leasing agents and was able to confirm this statistic with them.
  18. The City of Columbia has smart-cards that you can load money on them and recharge it whenever you want. I have one of them and it is great because I never have any change on me. I believe most of the meters in Columbia take them.
  19. I was driving by the new Marriott Courtyard on Friday night and all of the front windows have some sort of fiber-optic lighting which changes colors from blue, green, pink, purple, and other colors as well. It looked really awesome. I don't have a working camera so I wasn't able to take a picture.
  20. Great photo....BOA Plaza often gets left out of Columbia's skyline...it is nice to see it included...the views from up top down main street are awesome.
