  1. There is some sort of customs processing underneath the B Terminal, with escalators as access within. Being that I have not been through customs of any sort since I came here at age 2 and am unfamilar with the process, I am not sure if this is sufficient or not.
  2. The McDonalds near the Staples Mill Amtrak station is also being demolished and rebuilt. That is disappointing to hear that Rainbow Donuts had to vacate. I hope they return near by. Krispy Kreme is just too sweet for me, and Dunkin' Donuts seems to be on the endangered species list down here.
  3. A bridge would look horrible there in relation to the Rockett's developement, unless it was low (which it would not be). Perhaps some short of lower drawbridge could be used. Either way, a bridge would fill in a large gapped area for river crossings, which would generate a lot of traffic between East End and Blackwell, straight through Rockett's developement. Nothing about this sounds advantagous to Rockett's tenants.
  4. Hatches please, those look awful. Atleast, they should be less visible from the ground, but certainly look terrible in the skyline view. I am surprised to see glass in those doors.
  5. They are pulling the advertisements off of the buildings to be demolished, perhaps?
  6. I am heading to Southern States to pick up a pitchfork now
  7. That looks like the old warehouse foundation. It looks like they may have cleared out the "lake" by the time this picture was taken. That foundation is almost as large as the condo buildings, so if they actually use the remaining structure then this health club will be impressive.
  8. I am curious of to what "ruin" she is referring to. There is a foundation of another large warehouse (or walled in lake at the moment) immediately next to Skyline, a smaller shed that currently contains the workers' basketball court across the tracks from that, and a small pump shed tucked into the trees along the James a short bit down the tracks. The old brewery would be up river, and hopefully will still be used. EDIT: I mistook Skyline as being the structure that is actually Falline. The ruin she must be referring to is the old brewery between the two condo buildings. I did not realize they started moving tenants into Falline (the first completed), nevermind Skyline upcoming.
  9. Home Depot keeps a location in both vacinities without a problem. I have no doubt that Target would be fine with the same strategy. I am not sure on Kohl's, though, as I do not know their traffic.
  10. We are only about 100 employees, but a quarter of us live in Richmond and commute 90 miles West to Charlottesville. Overall, it would be cheaper for everyone travelling within the company to fly RIC instead of C-Ville's municipal airport.
  11. What a shame . I do intend to take a drive down there tonight, though it will be dark by the time I get back to town. Eventually, my company has to submit to my harassment for them to relocate to Richmond.
  12. These plans for Rockett's are looking better and better. Looks like I need to head down there and take a look. I really hope the developing panic of "worst housing slump in 16 years" does not begin to effect this.
  13. This is not Boston, we will be all right
  14. I am not so sure Philip Morris would like the idea of slapping a road through the middle of their new building for that to work.
  15. Hmm, drunken sports fans and gay bingo goers mixing. This could be potentially dangerous
  16. Yay, the spammers have infiltrated even these forums EDIT: I like the fast response of spam removal.
  17. Since I fly nationwide, I find USAir to be very convenient. Usually I see flights near full or overbooked (more often overbooked) on A319s (sometimes CRJ-900s) to Charlotte and CRJ200s, ERJ-175s, or Dehavilland Dash 8-300s to Philly or Laguardia. I think there may have been 5 of us on the Canadair from Philly to RIC late night July 4th. The airport was basically closed when I arrived. Overall, I have to say RIC seems busier every time. RIC is definitely the most impressive airport I have seen thus far on my travels for efficiency, cleanliness, and overall experience (though I manage to get pulled for security everytime, and never have at other airports). Passenger Capacities Airbus A319 = 124 Canadair Regional Jet 200 = 50 Canadair Regional Jet 900 = 86 Dehavilland Dash 8-300 = 50 Embraer ERJ-175s = 78
  18. It seems that with Blackfinn now drawing so many down there, McAllisters may be calling quits prematurely.
  19. Wow, I am kind of torn on this. I really hate to see the coliseum moved from downtown, as I foresee it directly hurting the revitalization in the immediate area, and feel it is appropriate to have located near the convention center and the current hotels. I also fear how the Biotech Park would develop the site. I do think that the sports/entertainment complex would be a better draw for the city and surrounding region as a whole, though, and believe that it could lead to a stronger build up between downtown and Boulevard. This complex would really add to the validity of light rail along the Broad St. corridor. Perhaps if Blues Armory was renovated into a symphony hall, or such, so to draw traffic to the area still, and the old coliseum site was developed appropriately, this move could turn out to be a truely wonderful thing. I would suspect that Marriot and Hilton will lobby against this move. Side Note: Hilton has been bought out by a company that intends to greatly improve the hotel line.
  20. I flew in in time to catch the finale at the Diamond from the plane. Wish I could have gotten back earlier to see the full show I was not aware BK was still open? Also, FYE can have a nice selection of certain genres of music depending on the individual management. For a while, the FYE in VA Center was the only place to get metal albums not available any where else in the city. It would be nice if we could get a nice stand alone music store in the area, as I am still irritated about the buyout and liquidation of Tower Records. I like Plan 9, but they neglect many genres I like.
  21. I like the sound of that. I can most definitely see where that intersection could be a hassle. Thankfully, I usually fly at quieter times, so I never have a problem there, but with the passengers number rising, it would be in the near future.
  22. Yes, it is better than my end of town, atleast. I hate Southside
