  1. I heard many of the above rumblings myself recently. A number of businesses have dropped out of this development and more are just waiting out their leases and moving away altogether. Apparently, the cost to raise this area above flood plain is something only Amway can afford.
  2. From the onramp (pre-snow) showing off the "lake".
  3. It will be hard to miss going east on 196. This was a sunrise last week.
  4. Come June 1, the Monroe North parking lot will be closing as part of the Restore the River project. There are a handful of residential spots there but it's mostly for the offices in the area and is typically 75% full. The recent loss of free, on-street parking sent a lot of people to this and other lots rather than fight for the good street spots.
  5. From their listing: The Former Benteler Automotive Plant has recently been acquired by a local and well known developer. The facility underwent a complete transformation which included new lights, updated parking lot, epoxy floors, interior painting and other upgrades. The 100,000 square foot warehouse/manufacturing space features ceilings up to 45’, a 25 ton crane with 26' under hook, 70’ X 30’ Column spacing in some areas, along with heavy power, 8 loading docks and 3 overhead grade level doors. The facility is visible from US 131 at the Hall Street interchange and offers excellent highway access. There is also an opportunity for up to 12,000 SF of non-contiguous office space which can be leased for an additional rate of $8.00 SF
  6. 1202 is now a photography/marketing firm.
  7. Mayan Buzz couldn't afford the dual locations. . Isn't 1202 Bridge now planning on a Bourbon bar or something similar?
  8. Nice perspective. Dang that is a small patch of land.
  9. They've been slowly working away at this forever. I assume that means no urgent impending tenant(s) or has it been somewhat forgotten? Anyone? A few insider pix http://www.470market.com/ for what $7.2M get you.
  10. Current upcoming breweries: City Built, 820 Monroe Ave NW 7 Monks, 740 Michigan The Peoples Cider Co, 539 Leonard (new taproom) Red Belly, E Paris, Kentwood Speciation Artisan Ales, 3720 West River Drive, Comstock Park Thornapple Brewing Company, 6262 28th St East West Brewing Co., 1400 Lake Drive Two Guys Brewing, 2356 Porter, Wyoming Jolly Pumpkin, 449 Bridge St Brass Ring Brewing Co, 2404 Eastern Ave High Five Co-op Brewery, tbd
  11. The co-op currently has $35k pledged of the desired $55k, with another large investment expected by year end. That will put it very close to their goal and hopefully entice those last few necessary investors. Also, a lease is currently in negotiations. So, soon!
  12. I wasn't a fan of the variants either until I just randomly tried the Vanilla Chai. That one was awesome.
  13. Brass Ring Brewing Company planned for Alger Heights. Good location if you ask me. https://mibiz.com/item/24224-brewery-planned-for-alger-heights-neighborhood-in-grand-rapids
  14. Thanks to lack of sunlight in the a.m., I had only seen this in the dark until yesterday. Wow! There's really a building underneath there? I'm hoping for a Rowe-style cleanup.
  15. I hit both New Holland and Atwater on their first lunch day (both walking distance!) and liked my brisket sandwich from New Holland but the Atwater pizza was meh. In bigger news, neither had a full beer menu yet. Give 'em time, these are both pretty professional companies.
  16. Still absolutely no sign of any upcoming construction there. No fence, signs or stakes. I've heard nothing either.
  17. I was told a year or more ago that the Red Lion building was in pretty poor condition. I wonder if it's a fixer-upper or if it's going the way of the Cini-mini?
  18. Wasn't there also a bonus to finish early??
  19. Love that building! Hoping for good news.
  20. This is what I had in mind from my previous travels to Victoria BC. Alas, not politically correct... http://www.theglobeandmail.com/news/british-columbia/after-47-years-victorias-landmark-bengal-lounge-nearing-its-end/article28831889/
  21. I saw the equipment in there a few weeks back but couldn't get any info from my server. I'm picturing a very British place with pith helmets and tigers. That's just my imagination running wild, I'm intrigued.
  22. But Michigan and Union IS uglier, I swear. Either way I'd say it's not a stellar beginning to the Michigan Street Corridor Plan.
