  1. I suppose a lot of that happened because instead of building on vacant land, going concerns were forced to close and buildings demolished while the vacant land remained and in the interim people found other places to replace what downtown no longer offered.
  2. Must be an old rendering before the issues with H1-B Visa program...
  3. Interesting the counties are hanging their hats on Environmental reviews for taking the case up again. Have they not been noticing what's been going on with the EPA recently?
  4. Fence extends into the road and lots of flat beds from where they can find room to stage.
  5. Staging for Steinmetz. Not a lot of room from the back of the building to Rosalind.
  6. Heard a piece on NPR that made me think of the Colonial Mall, many strip stores and the drum that seems to beat itself: neo-street based retail. I was interested in the idea of a street grid thrown down on former mall areas and what I thought of as SOHO models and urban retail being the future. What's old is new again. http://www.npr.org/2017/05/02/526560158/a-rapid-shakeup-for-retailers-as-consumer-habits-change
  7. Are you talking of taking the 408 to the coast? I don't see the Mormons giving up more land than they absolutely have to, and probably to aquire more land so that the drive to the coast would be a real "Greenway". The more options to tie the space coast, the better I think.
  8. Especially as the first floor isn't built out, it's just used for storage, would increase usable space.
  9. Cladding off, scooping out dirt. Nothing exciting except it is happening.
  10. Replacing the monorail lines that never existed you mean?
  11. My first experience with NIMBYs was when I was a percussion instructor for a local high school. Did these people NOT see the HS next to their homes? At a certain point the question has to be asked who was there first.
  12. If one is going to a garden store it sort of presupposes you are not walking or taking PT. So many great nurseries and even the UF center by the airport for soil testing, advice, and supplies.
  13. As this is a new intersection, I think the NW corner is part of the old attendee and employee parking lots of the Amway. Depending how far back, possibly a tennis court or two.
  14. I would assume ridership would be counted by number of tix sold, as in entertainment. Why you can have a "sold out" show with plenty of empty seats.
  15. I considered not posting because I sound a bit NIMBY here, but the WWE Belt at the base of the flagpoles, really? Now combining my abhorrence with an aesthetic and logistical argument, wouldn't the mini-peninsula provide a more appealing backdrop?
  16. As the punchline goes, "I know, I just like hearing it."
  17. Especially when Seminole County jumps on every opportunity to market themselves as "North Orlando" or other "less successful sibling" type attempts at dropping a family name.
  18. What we need here is a hot tub time machine. Retail plus I'd finally lose all the weight I've been trying to lose...
  19. Station design? The north-south does nothing for me so i've never ridden it, but it seems the station design leads to inefficiencies in fare collection. Is it conductors on the trains punching tix?
  20. I would imagine that Brevard County is a litigant. At some point the station to get MCO passengers to Port Canaveral needs to be built. Even if it's not a Brightline Train that services it. A partnership perhaps?
  21. I thought Disney owned Crossroads. It served a purpose back in the early '90s while Disney was lurching seemingly rudderless with the Village/Pleasure Island experimentation. Plus the line up of Garcia's Pebbles, a Jungle Jim's anchored by the closest grocery store, it could also sport successful retail. But now? My younger single self salutes the memories of great evenings starting and passing through Crossroads.
