  1. Yeah, we have one at the Boardwalk and are getting another on Youree Dr at Regal Court. I have been seeing a lot of their commercials lately too. It bugs me to keep seeing these Macy's commercials and know we do not have one. Surely we are being probed.
  2. Do you have cable or satellite? I have satellite and I have noticed that I see commercials for things we don't have here, so I have wondered the same thing. I will say that I have never noticed so many TGI Friday's and Dick's commercials until recently. It would be nice have the answer to your question.
  3. More hotels on Shreveport-Bossier City's horizon Wow, I didn't know we had so many hotels going up! The article says that there could be nearly 10 more hotels opening in the next two years! It says that there is a Holiday Inn planned for Airline drive. Does anyone know where this will be on Airline? Hopefully all the hotels will look as nice as the Cambria Suites. The Louisiana Downs hotel is also coming along nicely. All the floors are now framed. It is a four story hotel. All these hotels going up is pretty cool!
  4. I have also seen these commercials. I used to go to the one in Ruston all the time when I lived over that way. I would love to see one or several here. Their root beer from the tap is awesome, as is their hamburgers. Wow! Here is a story from the S'port Times saying that Eldorado Casino is thinking about building a second 300 room tower downtown! How cool would this be? They say they need more room. This supports what a lot of people believe about our hotel industry, that we need more rooms here! Maybe ole Keith isn't so crazy! Eldorado Resort Casino ponders another tower
  5. That article was pretty rosy! Two parts were funny, but none other that this part about the Convention Center.... Did y'all know it was finished on time? I thought it was suppose to have opened in Nov '06.
  6. Yes, I live really close to Pilot. I think it would be great to see 157 widened. To get it widened all the way to Hwy 80, they would have to build a new overpass, which will probably never happen. I also believe that they should make on and off ramps to I-20 from 614 (McKinley). If they did this, maybe then they could take out that bridge on 157, reroute the traffic, and build a wider bridge; everyone knows we could use it. I'm sure it sucks trying to turn onto 157 in that morning traffic without the aid of a traffic light. I grew up in Haughton and have seen the traffic increase over the years. In the morning, at lunch and in the afternoon traffic on 157 is nuts. I think that if something was done, we would definitely see development out here. You know that property from behind Haughton High across to 3227 is for sale and is offered at 1.4 million. I think it is around 90 acres.
  7. Yeah, it's back. We had to get into town because I wanted my daughter in the Haughton school system. I keep looking at all this property down here across from the Pilot and thinking that a grocery store would be nice. I hate having to go all the way up to Brookshires. There is so much potential for development down here, especially with all the new houses being built. Haughton is definitely changing. I'm hoping in the next 5 years (or sooner) we see some development, other than residential, happening. Do you think that we will?
  8. Hey guys, today I noticed a sign on the Bossier Target announcing an opening date. The sign says that they will open July 29th! At the rate the other buildings are going up over there, there should be others following shortly. It looks as though the Chick-fil-A is almost done too. I will be very happy when I do not have to drive all the way to Shreveport to go to stores such as Target and Best Buy. I have recently moved to Haughton so I have added about 10 minutes onto my drives to SBC, as there is nothing in Haughton!
  9. USC probes possible recruiting violation Isn't this a big suprise. Seriously, it's only been 2 days and there's already an investigation. Apparently the Reggie Bush conference call with Pete Carroll and McKnight was a recruiting violation, but now all are denying it ever happened. I'm sure he just "misspoke" as Pete Carroll says. It just shows the kind of character that Carroll, McKnight and J.T. Curtis have. I would be mad that Carroll has made me look like an idiot in front of the whole country, but it seems as though McKnight doesn't care.
  10. McKnight picks USC I'm guessing it has to do with the fact USC players do not get in trouble for taking handouts.
  11. Phew, there is virtually nothing between Haughton and Minden right now. I think for this to happen, we would have to see Haughton grow much larger and get some retail development. I think this could happen after I-69 comes through in what, 25 years?
  12. It is smaller than the CVS. It has been there since I was a kid. My daughters preschool takes them there once a week and they watch movies and have stories and such.
  13. I saw that. That CVS is going to be tiny! Actually the town of Haughton does have a small library. It is right next door to the town hall.
  14. I grew up in Haughton, but I live in Bossier now. I am one of those people looking to move to Haughton. Most of "Haughton's" residents don't even live in Haughton, they live outside of the city limits. Brian can attest to this, there are new homes being built there like crazy. Now all they need is some commercial development. All that is in Haughton is a couple of convenience stores, a truck stop and a couple of dollar stores. We also have to remember that I-69 is slated to go right through Haughton.
  15. It appears that Luther Davis, a defensive end from West Monroe High School, has switched his commitment from LSU. What an idiot. How could anyone from Louisiana go to Alabama in the first place? Then, you add Nick Saban to Alabama and somehow it is more attractive? If you are from Louisiana you should hate all listed. Check out the quote from the story. Let's all say it in unison, I hate Nick Satan. Here's the link to the story. Report: West Monroe's Davis switches from LSU to Bama
  16. The first 2 picks in the draft should be cornerbacks.
  17. I feel so sick. We were so close and in typical fashion, we gave it away. That safety totally changed the game. I can't believe that 2 points and Fred Thomas killed all the momentum.
  18. Today's the big day! I've been waiting all week. Only about 2 hours to go!
  19. Ok, I didn't know they were renting, but thought they were staying there. Back after Halloween, I remember reading a story about Meg Ryan taking daughter trick-or-treating in Southern Trace.
  20. Thanks! Either of those two locations would be good for a Fuddruckers. I have never ate at Koo Koo Roo, but see it everytime I am in LA (Manhattan Beach). I pass it right up heading for California Pizza Kitchen or The Coffee Bean!!! Yes, Southern Trace is big time here. That is were all the movie stars are buying homes. I believe Kevin Costner and Aston Kutcher and Demi Moore have bought homes there.
  21. The tallest building in Jersey City looks awesome, but Yokahama wins by a landslide. Instead of having one cool building they have five or six plus a ferris wheel!!! The buildings on the left and right are very unique, but I love how the three in the middle have a step effect. Yokahama has a very cool skyline!
  22. Hey guys, the other day, Brian and I made comments about wanting a Fuddruckers in SBC and sending them emails. I did send an email and I got a reply back (not that crapy "thanks for your interest" reply). The reply stated that they actually are planning on putting a Fuddruckers in SBC, although no details were given! Here is the reply I received. _______________________________________________________________________________ Thank you for your interest in Fuddruckers! We actually do have plans to build a Fuddruckers' restaurant in the Shreveport - Bossier City, LA area in the near future; however, I do not have the details on exactly when or where. You are welcome to follow up with us at the end of this year to check onthe status of this location. On behalf of Fuddruckers, Inc., I want to express our sincerest appreciation for your continued loyalty and patronage. Regina ******** Fuddruckers/Koo Koo Roo ________________________________________________________________________________ On another note, last night, I went by the Airline Stirling Prop site and wow. It appeared that they have all the walls up on the Target store (it was dark). I know for certain that the front wall, I-220 wall, and back wall were up. That was fast.
  23. My in-laws live in Albuquerque and trust me, they do not have a skyline. It is sad considering the amout of people there. IMO Shreveport has a better skyline. I haven't seen Boise, but I imagine Tucson vs. Salt Lake City would be good. I checked up on Albuquerque's buildings and their tallest building is 351 feet and only one other over 250 feet, not very good for a metro area of almost 800,000. They have booming business though. They have an Intel semiconductor factory and are building some sort of spaceport (like an airport but for launching space shuttles).
  24. It's not just you, I think they are too. This is another reason I think this will never happen, this thing is not even close to being functional.
