  1. CNN Money released its list of "100 Best Small Cities in 2008" today. There was not a single South Carolina community on the list...tsk tsk.
  2. Last year the Greyhounds played at home at the old Travellers Rest High School field. I read on their websight that they are looking for another home field for this season. Beware if you loolook at their website (greenvillegreyhounds.com), because it is a real mess.
  3. I believe it is just the one night. Not much of a line-up, in my opinion.
  4. Last Friday, I tried the Vietnamese restaurant on N. Pleasantburg, "Saigon." It was very, very good. The place is really clean and nicely decorated. Quite small, maybe ten tables? I had a bowl of Pho, but they have an extensive menu, lots of pictures for the unfamiliar. Not sure about the cross street, but it is right across the street from Taco Casa.
  5. Finally, we can enjoy the fine Belgian beers here. I have been having them shipped in from a place called "Liquid Solutions" in Portland, OR. The shipping...OY!
  6. I don't know where it is appropriate to place this. Some months ago, the smoking ban was a hot topic. Just before I left Seattle a year ago, Washington State passed a state-wide ban. Here is an article about the results: http://seattletimes.nwsource.com/html/loca...nosmoke12m.html
  7. When I fly for work, I fly out of GSP. But when I go to Seattle to visit family, I drive to Atlanta. Why? 50% to 100% cheaper, no contest. As much as I'd like to be a booster for my new home town, I can't afford that price difference. Sorry if you conclude that I don't "do my part," but it's all I can afford. Gvillenative, I don't understand why you put "save money" in quotes on your message. The savings are real, and for me, necessary if I want to see my grandkids more than once a year.
  8. I suppose one might consider Monsieur Bonaparte to have lead France to a victory or two...
  9. I live only a few blocks from Kim's, and stop in at least once a week for take-out. The food really is well made and fresh. Quite a surprise for such a tiny place.
  10. Very nice, puskunk. Many levels there.
  11. When a municipality passes an ordinance like this, it causes some grief for those business located on the edges of the boundary. You may have noticed that some GVL County business immediately started advertising, "Smokers Welcome." I won't enter into the should/shouldn't debate, but if such a ban is going to work well, it needs to be on the state level, and be done with it.
