  1. I'm wondering why the parcel is slanted on the west side. It looks as if it's going in on the corner, but that's where I thought the bank was going. On .pdf file, it says corner of VMP and Brannen. Maybe it's Chili's-Bank-Holiday Inn-Toyota Dealership, than Bank-Chili's-Holiday Inn-Toyota Dealership? Either way, it's a very nice looking building. I don't think I've seen one like this. Pretty interesting that the developer is from Texas and the franchisee is from Athens.
  2. Yeah, that's where I got it. I just emailed them a few weeks ago and they said that there were no plans of coming anytime soon. I'll go back and check and see if I can find it. I hope this goes through. I'm just WAITING for the city to act stupid and down the drain it goes.
  3. Chili's in the works- could be coming soon Well, it seems as if Chili's could be coming to town. No plans have been finalized, but if/when they are, it will be located between the soon-to-be-constructed Holiday Inn and Citizen's Bank.
  4. While it's not the first place for development, it comes in the close second. All of the apartment complexes popping up, all of the residential happening on Langston Chapel, and the increased traffic on the bypass. Not only that, but when you have a restaurant that's in high-demand (such as Red Lobster, Olive Garden, Outback, etc..), unless it's WAY far out, people will go to it, wherever it's located. Also consider Statesboro is "the city" to most of the surrounding counties. Everybody comes here to eat, shop, etc... The closest Red Lobster is in Savannah, which is anywhere from 30 minutes, to a hour and 15 minutes, just for some Bulloch County residents. Then you have Screven, Candler, Evans, and the other counties that comes here, and it's even farther for them. As it was noted before, alot of developments have been but on hold due to the bypass not being widened yet. Once it is (and while it is) widened, I expect development to surge through here, (67 to 301 S).
  5. More news from the rumor mill: 1. Red Lobster moving into the old Shell House location. This is a possibility since there was a developer trying to get a national chain in there. Jan said it was a franchise, but he could have just have been trying to lure them into that spot. 2. Old Navy going at 67 and the Bypass. I find that hard to believe, because I would think that they would need the whole parcel that's there. I guess they could build on 5 or so acres. 3. Target building in Brannen Crossing, right across from FMB. 1 and 3 are believable. Old Navy, is a odd location. But ehh.
  6. I went to Alltel today to get me a new phone and the sales rep. told me that they will be moving into a new store next to Nikko's Express this June. Now if they could just get more employees and a bigger phone selection.
  7. Tillman Park will have an Open House tomorrow and Sunday. I guess they've finally finished it.
  8. The "chat" is just a blog. At the bottom of the newspaper website, go to the Read all Blogs, and it's on the second page.
  9. So, I went to the "chat" and even asked a question. Heres a rundown: - Groundbreaking for the Holiday Inn should be anyday now.. - We should also have an "official announcement" about the 67/Bypass hotel soon - After a few people tried to get a Hooters, and again, we got the infamous "Not Now." responce. That may be changing though, so who knows.. I asked about the multiple Walmart rumors and Brannen Crossing: - Not so sure about another Walmart, but the Sam's Club rumor still exists..(Which I believe we'd get another Walmart before a Sam's Club, but who knows..) - Development of Brannen Crossing could be happening now, as a "large developer" (I don't know exactly how large) is putting stuff together to develop it. Once again, we could be hearing something about it anytime now. Note: the word COULD was used a few times.. - There's a grocery store supposedly very interested in coming to town (I'm hoping for a Publix). ..That's pretty much it. There was a few other questions I wanted to ask, but maybe I'll try next week.
  10. Is anybody planning on going to the "chat" (posting comments on a blog then getting replies is hardly a chat, but whatever...) tomorrow with Jan? I might appear and post a few questions.
  11. I can't believe the development on Langston Chapel. It's been less than a month since I went through there, and I saw where they paved for the new subdivision, got new condos (or something) for the college kids, and a sign up for a small subdivision at the ex-pink house.
  12. Wow, Bruster's did go up fast...it's just, pretty small .
  13. So I found out that this Charleston's Row condo development is over on Burkhalter. Not sure where, but it's somewhere along there.
  14. Interesting. Any idea what type of restaurant it is?
  15. Does anybody know where the East Hampton subdivision is? I saw one of those Statesboro Real Estate books today and that subdivision had some nice houses. That one and Pepperidge. Wherever that one is too.
  16. Car Dealerships - I've thought about this before, but I was wondering what everybody else thought about it. Do you think that our proximity to Savannah will hinder us from getting other car dealerships? I'm surprised that we don't have a Honda or Mazda dealership, and it really wouldn't surprise me if we got an Acura one. I see ton's of them in town. I know we used to have a Volkswagen dealership years ago - where the Chrysler one is now.
