  1. Article Monday about more hotels coming.
  2. I was stopped at the 67 red light this morning, and I looked over and saw this: I don't know if you can tell or not, but it says Marriot (I guess they missed a t) on all of them. Still confused as why there's not a coming soon sign up yet. Eh. On my way back this afternoon, I noticed trees being cleared by ProLube. I looked and saw where that piece had been sold in November. I wonder what's going there. Not that big of a lot.
  3. I did some random googling last night, and came up with this. At first, I thought it might have been Chili's, but the bidding happened this month, and this store is 6,000 square feet rather than the 5,000 for Chili's. So I'm not sure what it is, or where it is. They have it at the Walmart distribution center, and I doubt they're getting a restaurant.
  4. I just hope they they won't be attached together. It doesn't look good to me when you have multiple big boxes connected together. Maybe we should start a topic on the B.C. development? It seems like things could be getting underway soon. Lots of discussion.
  5. So when should things start happening on The Centennial? Oh and BTW, what all is going on at Paulson? I heard something about remodeling the bathrooms, concessions, and some other things.
  6. I see the plan for the BC development. It's a very interesting plan. Here's notes on what I observed: - I see where the right turn in-right turn out spot on the bypass is. I remember that being applied for last year. - I also see where they plan on putting a traffic light there at Buckhead Drive - which is good. I hate turning left there and at Walmart. - I'm assuming the greenway is that strip going through the lower half of it? - Other than Lot 7, the lots doesn't look big enough for big-box stores. - On the left side of the development, the interior road just stops at the end of parcel. Will we see Brannen Crossing Phase II in the future or will there be an interior road lining Brannen Street? - Whoever did the plans doesn't know what they're doing. They have it as Statesboro Crossing, on Brennen Street. ...and if I see a strip mall in this development I will die. I want to see big box stores, banks, restaurants, etc. A nice, quality development.
  7. We had that Church's a year or so ago downtown. I didn't know anything about it though until after it had closed. I just rode by one day and saw it. Bad promo, if you ask me.
  8. Goodbirds, a new restaurant, will be coming to the old Krystal's location. They say it's Zaxby's meets Chick-Fil-A. If everything goes well, it could be the start of a franchise. The renderings looks very nice http://www.statesboroherald.com/news/article/3685/
  9. Travel Plaza Proposed for I-16 Interchange Flying J is proposing a 22-acre fuel/restaurant depot on the northeast corner of Highway 301 South and I-16. It will boost 2.6 million dollars in tax revenues to the county and employ 60 people, with pay exceeding $1.15 million a year. If everything goes smoothly, construction should begin in October. article: http://www.statesboroherald.com/news/article/3576/
  10. I'm glad we'll be getting a new Hampton. When they first came out with the new prototype, I stayed at one of the first ones and I was impressed. The exterior was amazing, and the interior was even better. I thought I was at some 4-star hotel. The breakfast area was huge with stained glass windows, high ceilings, plasma tv's, and a good buffet. You could only get in the rear or side entrances of the hotel with your key card. The rooms were amazing too and had alot of high-quality materials in them. Maybe all of the newer hotels are like this. I'm not sure, I rarely stay in hotels. I've never stayed in a Sleep Inn. I've heard they're kind of like a Comfort Inn, just cheaper. I don't see the old Hampton Inn becoming a second HI Express. They're mostly hotels, not motels. I've only seen the one in Metter as a motel, but it looked like an older Holiday Inn. Also, it's right there at the current one. You can practically see it from the Hampton Inn. The only place I can think of being remodeled is the LaQuinta, but that was just rebadged 2 or 3 years ago. I'd really like to see the new Hampton Inn being built where the existing one is. I think it'd look pretty cool to have a 3-4 story building in the back infront of the trees. It's in a good location.
  11. How far down Brannen Street does Brannen Crossing go?
  12. I noticed this morning that dirt is being pushed for the 67/Bypass hotel. Still no "official" word.
  13. Holiday Inn groundbreaking tomorrow. Yeah, it's not going to get done by football season, nor the 67/bypass one.
  14. The old Burger King is finally getting a new tenant. Renovations will be starting soon to turn it into a Bojangles. What's interesting is that it's right next door to Popeyes. Ex-Capitan Joe's and Chef Roe's is being turned into a Japanese restaurant. One of those where they cook at your table would do killer here.
  15. WTOC article and video here discussing the coffee scene in Statesboro: http://www.wtoc.com/Global/story.asp?S=6421089
  16. Ticket Sales Top 9K The average number of tickets sold per day for the Brad Paisley concert was 100, but since Monday it's jumped to 300. article: http://www.statesboroherald.com/news/article/3386/ I'm positive that this number would be higher, but Brad just came to Savannah in November. I wanted to go, but something came up and I can't.
  17. Chops looks like it'll be a good addition to downtown. Hopefully this streetscape project will get going soon.
  18. So what exactly do we know about Brannen Crossing, other than big-box stores and restaurants? Do we know anybody who is interested in coming? Who are the developers? How far down Brannen Street does this go? I know one of the local real estate agents is somehow involved, and Target is a possibility. That's it. andremurra, I'm assuming you got that tidbit from your source. You have the best source in all of the boro.
  19. I went by Bruster's twice this evening, once about 5, and once around 6:45. It was busy both times, the parking lot full and the drive thru packed. I'm sure this place will be fine, as we've needed an ice cream store on this side of town for a while. Even though I love the Moolatte's from Dairy Queen, I hate driving all the way across town to get one.
  20. Does your friend (or even you) know about when we will be hearing something about it, or do you just know that they're coming?
