  1. Sorry, but what does flamed out mean?
  2. ummm...not really. Just go to Denver, Colorado some day. When I went there, they had those buses going up their main two lane road only and it didn't seem strange at all. Actually it seemed really cool. There were also a ton of people using them and there were restaurants including Hard Rock Cafe and stores that lined the street that got better business than the ones in downtown Greenville .

  5. Greenville/Spartanburg is one of the areas in the southeast under top priority to get high speed rail: http://www.sehsr.org/reports/time2act/actchapter7.html
  6. For people who haven't seen this study for high speed rail through Greenville and surrounding areas: http://www.sehsr.org/reports/MACCLTrept2004.pdf. I would say we'll probably get high speed rail by 2010.

  9. Is this the same project the DPC voted for against that's located at the intersection of S. Main Street and Augusta Road across the street from the Army surplus store?

  12. Expect legislation to pass a referendum by 2010 to create a Regional Authority and have it in place by 2015. Also, expect HOV lanes to go up on I-85/I-385, a "skybridge" to go over Main Street, a northern connector loop through Traveler's Rest like the Southern Connector through Simpsonville, 8 lanes on I-85, 2 runways at GSP and Donaldson Center, light rail, high-speed rail, monorail system, new multi-modal transit center in downtown and at GSP, more buses with better bus lines, more bike and walking trails, more mixed-use developments, utilized reversible lanes at peak times of traffic, more pedestrian crosswalks with crossing signals, another control-access highway through Greenville like I-85 alternative in Spartanburg, major airport hub at GSP, parking garages and plazas for park and ride, less school buses with more carpooling and mass transit use, dedicated truck routes, more greenways, free flowing access for emergency vehicles, more neighborhood/retail centers, and a lot more by 2025. Man, I can't wait until 2025 rolls around, even though it's still a little over 18 years away.
  13. I think they should take out all of the parking along Main Street out and put trees in its place. The two-lane road left should be allowed for buses, trolleys, emergency vehicles, and maintence vehicles only. The road should be completely closed off to all vehicles including the ones I listed above during events like Fall for Greenville and the Cycling Championships, unless there's an emergency.
  14. Part of this says they want all cars off Main Street by 2025 except for cross traffic and replaced with trolley cars: http://www.greenvilleforward.com/Downloada...on%20Vision.pdf I agree with this all the way. If you have ever been to Denver, they have a great system on their main road (16th Street Mall) downtown where only buses, emergency vehicles, and maintenance vehicles are allowed to go. The 36 buses go up and down the street, stop at certain points like every half a block, and there is usually a 30-60 second wait between buses. Their also free to ride too. Greenville should definitely look into this. Here is more info on their system: http://www.transteq.com/ or http://www.ngv.org/ngv/ngvorg01.nsf/bytitl...qTransitBus.htm
  15. Here are two others I found that show the same thing: http://thomas.loc.gov/cgi-bin/cpquery/?&am...OC_562243& look under City of Greenville, SC and http://72.14.209.104/search?q=cache:8jE2BZ...clnk&cd=19; look under SC in the B section and City of Greenville multi... in the C section.
  16. Here is what we can expect by the year 2025: http://www.greenvilleforward.com/Downloada...on%20Vision.pdf Also, look under transportation projects here: http://lgraham.senate.gov/index.cfm?mode=p...e&id=219368. I didn't know the City of Greenville's multi-modal transit center was going to get improvements. You can also look at this site under "Bus and Bus Facilities Earmarks" and scroll down to SC to see what i'm talking about: http://www.apta.com/government_affairs/app...arksadvance.cfm. The Lindsey Graham one says $200,000, while the apta one says $525,000. Here is one I just found though that shows $1,000,000 for improvements towards the bottom of the third page: http://72.14.209.104/search?q=cache:rn8SZS...t=clnk&cd=1
  17. -If you cache the website, it still works, even though the pic in the webcam is from this past winter seeing how the bright red thing isn't up yet and all of the leaves are off the trees.
  18. As of 8/7/06, McBee Station's Publix, Staples, and possibly even the 22 condos along with the 272 apartments, but not so sure on those two are scheduled to open 3/1/2007 and the amount of space sold for the center is at 62%, which means 38% of space is still available to be purchased.

  20. ...because exit 21 doesn't get as much traffic as exit 19, due to Tri-County Tech and Clemson and the companies locating there can see it. Also, a new 10,000 shopping center is going to go up soon next to the new Mcdonald's/gas station on exit 19 near I-85.
  21. If you look on the Riverplace webcam right now, it looks like their installing some green mesh or something over the musical dancing water jets right next to where the orange and white construction barriers are along the riverwalk: http://riverplace.suitt.com/1/control.html
  22. The really neat thing is that the fountain is going to be open in time for the US Pro Cyling Championships, so we and all of those people from out of town can see it.
  23. The Drive's mascot is a frog named "Reedy Rip' it." The Drive name came about due to the success and renaissance Greenville has made to their downtown and the surrounding areas over the past couple of decades. Also, the name was chosen due to the big automotive suppliers located here. It's the Drive to be the best, succeed, and conquer your goals.
  24. Any new info on that secret uptown tower, btoy?
  25. Here is an email I just received from the Shopping Center Group about the Magnolia Park Town Center: -Currently, we are slated for demolition to occur at the end of this year, but that could be pushed back to early 2007. We don't have an exact date yet.
