  1. Thanks for the pics John. Looks like they didn't make the concrete bases for the new lighting in Ah Nab Awen park high enough. Or maybe they were only concerned about ice and not flooding.
  2. The iMap application on the Kent county website says that that lot belongs to the "Roberts Minnie Trust". But there isn't any other land in the general area that is owned by the Rapid, county or Kentwood that would indicate where the Park n Ride lot would be. Other then the Kentwood Public Schools property on the SE corner. But I don't see how a park n ride lot would work there. The only thing I can surmise is that the park n ride will be somewhere on the east side of Division. That is based on the station plan that was provided for 60th street. The north arrow indicates that the station is going to be on the east side of the street. Logic says that the park n ride is somewhere on the east side as well.
  3. For some reason I thought they had two stations planned for 60th street. But the map just shows the one in detail. I think it will end up looking something like this. To expand the route south (or east or west on 60th) just add a station on the other side of the street.
  4. I would think that if it was the last stop, and it had a park n ride lot, they would have just put a single station inside that lot. And the bus would just turn around inside the park n ride lot. But that is not what they are showing.
  5. They don't have a stop directly for the Van Andel Arena or GRCC either.
  6. Little Mexico Cafe has closed. http://www.mlive.com/business/west-michigan/index.ssf/2013/03/west_side_icon_little_mexico_c.html
  7. Sundance Grill is moving from the Trust building to the Waters building says owner Jeff Lobdell. http://www.woodtv.com/dpp/news/local/grand_rapids/sundance-grill-moving-and-adding-jobs
  8. Just looking at a map of Newark, OH. There is a larger Wal-mart across the street from the Meijer. And Kroger is just across the street from there. Still I'm surprised that Meijer is bailing on the community. I don't think it happens very often. Makes you wonder how healthy the company is.
  9. Is the county / city land being offered for sale as one RFP or separate RFPs? If both sold in one RFP, do you think MSU would sell their property. Or is MSU the interested buyer? I'm guessing that someone approached the county about buying their land. But the county has to sell it via RFP. Will we see another RFP like the city did at Fulton/Ionia tailored toward one developer.
  10. Re-posting the map I made for the GR Press building sale thread. Note: What was Herald Publishing back then is now MSU.
  11. Totally awesome video (of photography) created by Jason Hulet of Traverse City. http://youtu.be/nC1YPVP3sXM I just have to say; Wow!
  12. Did you mean the one labled 204 Ionia? That rendering is actually 240 Ionia. We have a thread here about it. http://www.urbanplanet.org/forums/index.php/topic/19010-240-ionia-new-development That lot is now proposed as a third apartment building by Brookstone Capital (Karl Chew). I doubt that the new apartment building will end up looking like 240 Ionia. Though I think it would be nice if it did.
  13. GRAM site in the 90's photo found on Mlive
  14. Can you watch planes take off and land from the top of the new parking deck?
  15. N. Division then; http://www.flickr.com/photos/bitsorf/2930295047/ Now; http://goo.gl/maps/s6ZYM
  16. This one? http://www.flickr.com/photos/bitsorf/4352763486/in/photostream That's not the BOB. That's 25 Ottawa SW http://goo.gl/maps/msVQI
  17. You know what catches my eye about this building. It's that the front door is right on Division. However the side walk from that door leads you right to the parking lot. You can't get from the door to the sidewalk along the street, which is only just feet away, because of the retaining wall. Clever site design.
  18. I thought the market rate apartments was new news. It was the first time I had heard that Rockford was planning apartments for the building. I knew that the rest of their story was old news. Most of it more then a year old. I should have figured that it was all old news.
  19. Market rate housing is being planned for the Morton Hotel. http://www.woodtv.com/dpp/news/local/grand_rapids/Renovations-on-tap-for-morton-house-junior-achievement
  20. Grand Rapids Brewing Company opened today at 1 Ionia SW. http://www.mlive.com/business/west-michigan/index.ssf/2012/12/thirsty_patrons_line_up_for_gr.html
  21. The Bagger Dave's owners, Diversified Restaurant Holdings, own Buffalo Wild Wings in the Detroit area, northern Michigan & the Tampa area. But they do not own any Buffalo Wild Wings locations in and around the Grand Rapids area. The owner of the downtown Grand Rapids Buffalo Wild Wings, J K & T Wings, is also from the Detroit area. They also own GR area Smash Burger franchises. I guess that is where some confusion comes in.
  22. Breakdown of the vote by precinct; http://www.electionmagic.com/results/mi/K41results/K4100602184.htm It failed by at least two to one in every precinct. Which would include precincts that I assume are not served by the Rapid. (I don't know what the Walker precinct map looks like, I just assume that the NW corner of Walker has at least one precinct not served by the Rapid.) Is this the last time they will try this in Walker? Or do you think they try in Grandville again?
  23. Something about not being able to rent the space for weddings, meetings, etc. during artprize if they allowed the public in. Because, you know, it's not some sort of public building that is there for the public. Here's the story, http://www.woodtv.co...during-ArtPrize Not that I am against them not opening the museum up for "free". But it doesn't make sense to me that the museum be closed to general admission paying customers. I guess the "extra special" paying customers are the only ones that matter....
