  1. i moved to charlotte from orange county where we used john wayne santa anna airport (SNA) and parking here is so much cheaper - we are paying 3 bucks a day! that is such a deal. even when they increase the cost to 4 bucks a day that is still such a bargain. plus, if they keep raising the price, the possibility of mass transit to the airport increases
  2. lets hope they werent on wall street trying to raise capital
  3. again usair wont be serving asia from the east coast anytime soon because they dont have the aircraft. also, as stated above, vienna makes sense only because it is a fellow star alliance hub. however, the o/d traffic would be virtually nil. although their might be some pretty sweet deals come winter to vienna so im all for it
  4. no asian routes from charlotte - we have plenty of access to the caribbean from charlotte, also flights to london, frankfurt, and munich in europe and we have nonstops to mexico city, san jose (cr) and weekly flights to liberia (cr) (or we did at one time). we also fly to a few canadian markets. usair has repeatedly said they dont have any international expansion plans from clt. in the event expansion did occur i would be willing to wager a flight to paris would be in the cards. we will not see direct non stop to hk or tokyo or beijing or shanghai anytime soon - maybe and a big maybe would be once usair gets the a350 in 7-8 years.
  5. i dont know if this has been said yet but there is now a sign up at the site with the website - catalystcharlotte.com
  6. have you been to singapores changi airport? wowowow. absolutely beautiful, hell it even has an art galllery. On topic, there was an article in the paper two days ago with the usair spokesperson saying that clt would not be getting a china flight until 2014 at the earliest when usair gets the new airbus a350. In the mean time, usair does not have a plane capable of going the distance from phi - shanghai. they would have to lease or buy an a340-400 to make the trek and they are not exactly laying around for the taking. that is why, at least the article in the paper said, that usair would concede the 2008 china route award to delta and make the push in 2009.
  7. very exciting stuff regarding the lighting and retail. i just hope the extra features (led, fountain) arent value engineered away . . .
  8. forgive me for my charlotte snobbery but why would the 4th (5th?) largest city in the state get a place like this? It should be in charlotte and the epicenter complex would be a logical location
  9. so when driving by the met midtown, i see signs for target and home depot expo (i think that sign is new at least). Question is whether or not there is a best buy going in. Is the best buy going in on the second phase or is it coming at all?
  10. i cant imagine a market like charlotte would not be on their mind for the a/x brand. in the midst of a large expansion, we should be up near the top
  11. no way a 30+ story tower is approved in southpark. its just not happening. they would have to apply for a height waver and the nimbys would be all over it.
  12. i am probably wrong but wasnt that hyatt the only hyatt in all of charlotte? so, in my book, we lost a brand
  13. with the new picture of the ritz/boa project, the boa is only shown with floor up to 23 or so. that means this will be a tall building indeed (which is pretty exciting). However, the ritz is pretty bland
  14. wow, i had no idea (maybe i should learn to read more thoroughly). that is not a huge hotel but 400 more condos! and then the overature as well! wow, bring it on
  15. no boss or theory but when i was down there, i bought like 3 suits at hugo and i was under the impression theory was closing - everything in the store was on sale (this was jan)
  16. this is the hotel they are pouring correct?
  17. that mall used to be my home mall (ill be back in 2 weeks!). I never ate at that rainforest honestly. it is in the sears wing which has not been renovated the same way the other sections of the mall have been. For example, another store in that section is wolf camera and another is a magazine shop and i think there is a gymboree there as well. point is, rainforest is in a darker, older, poorer section of the mall. It would be cool to have a rainforest cafe but as another poster said, it is very expensive for sub standard food. buuut it does have a cool atmosphere. an actual on topic post now, juicy is open and it was full yesterday.
  18. hahaha, that is but one very very very small section of the dubai beachfront. search for the main strip of dubai - its a downtown boulevard named after a sutlan. every town on that strip (on both sides of the strip) is over 700 feet and all are very different in design. it is truly amazing what is going on in dubai and they are building buildings with some of the most innovative architecture in the world. i heard something to the effect that 20 percent of the worlds tallest cranes are in dubai. dubai is truly a breathtaking place right now
  19. such a backhanded compliment - really pisses me off i moved from southern california and had visited charlotte once - i had a choice of about a dozen cities and i chose charlotte because of its rep and its vibe and i am happy i did every day
  20. i have met multiple people here in charlotte that have done that. Only a few of those are from rural areas. Most are from up north looking for warmer weather, a job market, and a place full of young folks.
  21. do the overature and twelve line up against trademark and carillion? its great to see the skyline being extended!
