  1. lately trump stuff has been looking good - toronto, chicago, and new orleans - atlanta isnt bad either. i think he might be over the big black box architecture
  2. they have begun putting signage on the new building next to crate and barrel - paul simon had its logo on the store outside
  3. the observer picked up the story about bmi giving clt a flight to heathrow - bring it on. with that said i flew usair to gatwick 2 weeks ago and while it was full on the outbound, the return was 50% empty. the flight attendant said next month it would be high season and it would be a full flight. nonetheless, i dont know if we could handle a second daily flight even with our hub status
  4. some 6 million dollar permit was issued today for 210 trade http://charlotte.com/364/story/64067.html I dont really know what it means but im guessing it means they are moving along
  5. i would love heathrow service! how exciting but the only reason bmi is interested in clt is because of the star alliance membership. we are the southern hub for star alliance in the usa. nevertheless, bring it on (it would be awesome to see the bmi livery in clt)
  6. forgive me for being overzealous, i recently read of plans for a new atl tallest which would give them two 1000 footers. I apologize I dont recall where but I guess i thought it was already underconstruction. edit- after searching for where i read the info, on another urban/skyscraper site, it was revealed that the proposed tower was a hoax so there is only the tall boa tower and then the suntrust tower at the 871 or so. after that, all downhill. i apologize for my inaccuracy
  7. not nashville if their 1000+ footer gets built and atl has 2 1000+ footers. only dif is we get trump (of course atl does have trump) but still major kudos to clt if we pull this off
  8. regarding 1315 my wife and i really liked the condos - some had great layouts and all were reasonably priced. We havent purchased anything for various reasons but 1315 is really at the top of the list. that is an area that should see a real increase of value and its in a great area. im really shocked they are still available.
  9. i wonder if they will have it timed well enough to just ship the crane over - that would be impressive
  10. in one of the charlotte.com articles it states $10,000 fine/day
  11. it would seem that a toll would slow the road down more than keeping the road at 2 lanes in each direction - this is truly a ludicious solution
  12. i would love to see a trump building at 300 s tryon. that is the place for a tower like this
  13. how does that compare to concord mills or is that not considered a mall?
  14. This article - http://www.charlotte.com/mld/charlotte/news/16619109.htm discusses alot of what has been said on these boards about how charlotte gets the shaft in state road funds
  15. i guess the new south park tower pretty much dispells the rumour that ghazi is out of money
  16. as a potential uptown condo buyer, a tower that doesnt need presales and is already uc (3rd ward novare) is much more likely to be bought than one that has been delayed several times (vue). Even if the vue is nicer, i may not want the risk of it being delayed yet again. novare knows there are consumers like me out there that are most concerned about getting in to a builder quickly
  17. the misses and i have been in the condos at 1315 east as an option to buy. they are nice. the prices arent too bad and there are lots of floorplans to choose from. However, there is no security or permanent office/support staff. but it sure is a great area!
  18. thanks - i was told we were playing the suns - thanks for clearing that up
  19. so i was coming out of nordstroms this afternoon and who do i see - dikembe mutombo - the 7'2" basketball player for the houston rockets. the bobcats dont play the rockets tonight or tomorrow and didnt play them yesterday so he would have no reason to be in town. he looked like he was just killing time. i went in to tiffanys and asked the folks and they told me some event took place in the mall with some out of town basketbal players - anyone have any info?
  20. this would be a perfect location for those desserteries that were being discussed in the coffee house
  21. if this is high level certification (gold, platinum) that means the floors will be a height of 15 ft or so right? that means 450ft!
  22. i sure hope first colony the suburban developer is nowhere near this project. tryon st must be protected from tiny buildings. btw, i cant believe that building a small building would be economical given the cost of the land (kinda like the ruth chris making money even - even though its a great location, the land is $$$)
  23. its really shocking how inexpensive parking is at clt - that is a major reason right there why if living uptown i would not take a light rail/brt. honestly though, parking is a major source of untapped revenue for the airport and they could easily increase rate 30% without seeing demand fall. with that extra 30% they could spruce up the terminals
