DT Omaha is getting an urban, upscale grocery store called Patrick's Market. :yahoo:

"I think the population is probably there to support something like that finally," Spader said. "If they could get people to stop on their way home from these office towers, I think that would be another key to their success."

The Andersen family plans to offer delivery, curbside pick-up and online shopping by early next year.

The independent grocer will offer fresh produce, organic products, cut-to-order meat, a delicatessen, liquor, beer and wine from the 8,712-square- foot store, which has 18 stalls in the parking lot west of the building.

The Andersens intend for fresh meat to be their specialty. And they want to mix small-town friendliness

Sounds like the downtown boom is still going strong! Esp. "NoDo"!!! A grocery store is a key componet that makes urban living possible, which many downtowns truly lack. Hopefully a streetcar-system is implemented! Keep us updated!

Wonder which major corporation has it's eyes on Omaha??

Great thread! Keep up the good work

Rumors are surfacing about the old World-Herald site DT.

This from Heartland Real Estate Business Journal:

After adding 2 million square feet of office space in 2003 and 2004, downtown office construction has cooled. However, that could soon change. The Omaha World-Herald

UrbanOutfitters finally opened yesterday in SaddleCreek in NoDo. Their first store in Omaha, of course.

The store opening also marked a milestone for the developing downtown area west of the Qwest Center Omaha and a proposed ballpark. It's the first time in decades that a major national clothing retailer has operated in Omaha's downtown area, as well as the Philadelphia-based company's first foray into Nebraska.

Phase 2 of downtown's Riverfront Place condominiums is about to begin, with 20 of 53 units reserved including the $2 million penthouse. It will be a 15 story building just feet away from the Missouri River Pedestrian Bridge. Construction is scheduled to begin in early '08:
