  • Development continuing on Beaver Creek

The second filing for The Meadows at Beaver Creek, an upscale community under development in Zachary, has reached the market and 60% of the lots have been sold. The 48 lots in the filing represent a small portion of the houses that will be built in Beaver Creek, a 317-acre development off Plains-Port Hudson Road near the BREC golf course. Sean Glickman, one of the developers of the Meadows, says he wants the quality of the development to rival the Country Club of Louisiana. "We want this to be the best in Baton Rouge," Glickman says. Plans are in the works to put 586 lots in Beaver Creek, a buildout that will take more than seven years. The average lot sells for $70,000, and about a third of the properties have views of the golf course, lake or forest preserve. Plans are already in the works for future phases of Beaver Creek, including a gated French Quarter style community for active adults. "We're expecting the pace to rapidly pick up," says Glickman.

  • Cheval Trails in Zachary- 300-acre mixed-use development will feature an equestrian park and 25 acres of commercial retail; 600 houses on the site

  • An TND called Americana in Zachary would be a 420-acre development off of La.64. Complete with school and YMCA.

hey dan....did you hear anything about a possible movie theater in zachary and a waffle house,

at this time there is no Major Pizza place other then the locals, like bucks pizza n a few others

the Pizza hut's ,dominos, and papa johns in baker mostly distribute to that area.

but the domino's in Baker is moving to zachary at the end of this year or early next year

thatz good news for zachary but at the same time that takes away from baker as they try to develop

Central is now officially a "city". It also now has it's own school district like Baker and Zachary. Urban Planners are in the process of building a downtown for the community between Sullivan, Hooper, and Joor Roads. Implemented into a major TND called Magnolia Square(see New Urbanism thread).

"Zachary to get new Cane's restaurant

Barogon Properties has sold a .91-acre tract to Stice Hill Holdings for the construction of a new Raising Cane's. The sale closed last week for $535,140, or $13.50 per square foot. The seller was represented by Grey Mullins at Beau Box Commercial Real Estate. The purchaser was represented by Mark Hebert of Kurz & Hebert Commercial Real Estate. Cane's intends to build a 2,760-square-foot restaurant, which is a new prototype for the Baton Rouge-based chain. Stice Hill Holdings owns several Cane's restaurants throughout the Southeast and has been recognized for its growth potential and the profitability of the company."

^ My bad...Magnolia Square is not part of the proposed new downtown Central area. Magnolia Square will be off Lovett Road. Sprawling Central has no discernable downtown; so this would be a good idea. Nothing has started and I can't seem to locate that info. They can make better use of the big shopping center at Sullivan and Hooper Rd.

Zachary has made it to the big-time with a new Cane's
