Tunica skyline

A few nights ago I went to Tunica via I-69 with some friends and I was impressed with the view of the skyline. It wasn't comparable to a big city mind you, but I remember that area when it was the poorest in the country. In 15 years Tunica should have a pretty decent skyline.

yeah I-69 provides you with the best view of the skyline of Tunica, it's interesting at night b/c you come over a ridge and there in front of you is this huge area that just sprung up out of nowhere, it will only last so long though before billboards are all along I-69

Interesting topic...I like my neighboring state. I have never been up to Tunica but have seen pics; they are impressive in the middle of no where. I know Memphis helps their market big time(obvious)

Philadelphia MS has a tall casino-hotel with a moon on top of it. Impressive height for such a small place.

Jackson needs a new tall mixed-use high-rise tower and take the title of tallest building; but that won't be easy with the Biloxi projects.

Absolutely. The Memphis-Tunica combination has a ton going for it.

Because Tunica was rural and poor for so long, there are big chunks of prime land owned by

few, and that situation lends itself to large-scale planned development. When I visited last year, there was very little residential activity near the casinos, but when I visited last week, I saw a couple of signs and some clearing for subdivisions that will eventually cover hundreds of acres.

This raises an important question. Who are the prominent landowners in Tunica County? Are they likely to foster a comprehensive plan for growth, or are they more likely to cash out and sell their land to the first developer coming down the pike? I'd really like to believe that something special could happen in Tunica. Will the powers that be in tunica allow it to become something more than a WalMartLand? I hope so.
