Here's some interesting things.... The most recent Shreveport Times article says the Harrah's Fuddrucker's will be open sometime this summer!!! Our two will be the second and third Fuddrucker's in Louisiana. There is only one in NO and none anywhere else in the state! How are we getting so lucky? Two Fudd's and the only TGI Friday's in Louisiana (soon to come). I'm starting to feel special!

Poor management closed the Fuddruckers in BR a couple years ago. We miss it, it's great!!! Definetly worth a try Nate  BR got a Bonefish Grill about a year ago, we have been meaning to go; this thread will probably make us go

Congrats to Bossier City for landing TWO Fuddruckers!! Very impressive indeed! That's where we will be eating next time we are in the neighborhood.

When drawing the outline of Louisiana growing up; I would draw dots where the major cities were( typically what you see on a weather map) geographically spaced. Shreveport, Monroe, Alexandria, Lake Charles, Lafayette, BR and NO.Well...last time I sketched the state's outline, I added another dot just to the right of Shreveport, none other than Bossier City!!! Urban Planet has helped me realize what a "major player" Bossier City truly is. Keep up the good work Bossier City!

Unfortunately Bossier has become a more major player than Shreveport. While I'm proud because I love Bossier, I say "unfortunately" because I still wish Shreveport were progressing at the rate Bossier is.

Bossier is on the verge of a possible explosion in the IT-security field. That would put us up there with the big guys in the industry, and the growth would most likely be extreme. While this happens, Shreveport is expanding its industrial offerings at the port and undergoing a multi-million dollar expansion of its major oil refinery. But that all is just industrial development, and while that's good, Shreveport needs to advance technologically. Bossier is hoping to do just that, and not going to sit on their butts and allow some other city take it from us! :)

I can't really get excited about more chain restaurants coming to the area, we have some of the best food in the country right here!

For example:

TacoMania/Margarita Cafe

Olive St. Bistro

Guiseppe's

Superior's Steakhouse/Superior Grill

Hickory Stick

Ernest's

Blind Tiger

Shane's

Bear's

Phillin' Station

Counter Culture

This is just the tip of the iceberg, there is a local or regional restaurant for just about every budget or taste, most of which serve food far superior to the national brands, why do we need all the generics?

Agreed, we do have some great restaurants locally. However tastes differ from person to person, and I personally am not a big fan of some of the restaurants around here which are local favorites. That said, though, I am a fan of a lot of them. But there's still something about places like TGI Friday's that makes me enjoy the chain so much that I'm excited to see them coming back.

Some of the local establishments can only offer so much... for instance PF Chang's cuisine is completely different from that of any local Asian eatery... and it's reeeeeeeeeallly good!! Also when people come from out of town and want to eat at familiar establishments, such as PF Chang's, TGI Friday's, Fuddrucker's, etc we defintiely want them to spend those tax dollars somewhere they enjoy eating because they just might spend more. :)

Anyway, I see your point and I do agree that we have some great local establishments. But if you get a chance to enjoy some of the chains, we need to support those places as well. Many of the franchisees are also locals who are just trying to successfully operate a restaurant of a very well-known brand. The guys who own the franchises need to stay in business just as much as the guy who owns Superior.

Good morning, Urban Planet. This is a GREAT day in Shreveport-Bossier (but a bad day for those of us dieting).... the first of two Fuddrucker's restaurants to open in our region opens TODAY! http://www.shreveporttimes.com/apps/pbcs.d...10310/1002/NEWS

And here's the BEAUTIFUL part about this restaurant being located in a 24-hour casino. Well, I believe Harrah's Louisiana Downs is 24 hours like all the rest of the casinos.

Hours of operation:

10am - midnight Sunday through Thursday

10am - 2am Friday and Saturday

By the way, my wife and I had lunch at the new Fuddruckers today.

First impressions: very small space inside the Louisiana Downs pavilion, but food and service were great. Very small, limited condiment bar but it had everything I wanted anyway. As expected my burger was so damn good and rich in flavor that after only eating half of it, my body went into shock and I had to go home before I lost my lunch. It's DAMN good... I've been on a diet so strictly that I was afraid that a really awesome, rich hamburger would have that effect on me... and Fuddruckers certainly did. Had a brownie with Blue Bell vanilla bean ice cream as dessert (took it home with me since I got sick.)

Again, I got sick only because I haven't eaten anything that deliciously rich in so long... the food was MOST excellent. If I may make a suggestion, however, if you're not all about REALLY pink meat, don't order your burger "medium." Even my wife's "medium well" burger was a bit too pink for her liking. Looks like, for us at least, "well done" will be the way to go in the future.

I do hope the Boardwalk location will be larger than this one, but I'll take what I can get.

Oh and the downside: parking. I've never been inside Louisiana Downs before so I found parking to be a bit odd. The casino entrance is closest to the parking lot, so if you go just for Fuddruckers you'll want to use the entrance under the porte-cachere, where the valets are.

Hey guys, where's everyone at lately? I figured everyone would be talking about Fuddruckers! :) I just got in from dinner (no, not at Fuddruckers) and I passed a Fuddruckers billboard on I-20 at Industrial Drive, headed east toward Haughton. I didn't notice that on my way home because I was too busy exiting the interstate to get a Humphrey from Counter Culture! :P

I have to admit I didn't get the best look at it, but that patio seating area... well, that's about all they have at the one inside Louisiana Downs. The one inside Louisiana Downs looks like a street-front patio burger stand and that's about it. Just 10 tables maybe, and a very small space in general.

I went to Fudd's a couple of days ago. I was disappointed about size and selection. I am looking forward to getting a good turkey or buffalo burger when the LB location opens. I was definitely happy with the taste of my burger though! It was sooooooo good and it hit the spot! Has anyone else beside Brian and I made it out there yet? I also walked by the LB location the other day, it looks just like Brian's pictures! I am excited to see it moving along.

FWIW we took some friends from Texarkana today to Chimp Haven, the State Fair of Louisiana, and... Fuddrucker's. :) While at Fuddruckers I asked one of the girls about the Boardwalk location. Apparently the owner of the Louisiana Downs location also owns the Boardwalk location. He is hoping to have the Boardwalk location open sometime next week.

By the way... the fair... awesome. No violence, no worries, just a whole lot of fun and a lot of money spent. :whistling:
