The city of Leander approved the development of a $66 million project called the Texas X Park which is planned on nearly 200-acres in the northwestern part of the city with some frontage on Lake Devine. The park would be home to extreme and traditional sports facilities for sports like BMX, motocross, skateboarding, wakeboarding, beach volleyball, tennis, soccer, ice skating, and gymnastics. The park may offer a shuttle in the future to the commuter rail line station that is scheduled to open in 2008. Construction on the park could begin this summer and be opened by next summer.

This will be the largest mixed sports facility in Central Texas, and extreme sports participants said they don't know of other venues like it in the state. Once finished, it will host up to 23 activities across more than 200 acres. The plan will include the Texas X Park, which will offer traditional and extreme sporting venues; an indoor sporting arena; and, eventually, a hotel and retail development.
