I was listening and watching New Orleans radio and Biloxi tv and everyone on Monday said this storm would weaken as it reached the coast.  It did the opposite it strengthened and sped up. Louisia

A chilly start this morning in BR. Lows were in the upper 20's. They even said 26 at the airport on one local channel. High temps barely made it to 50 this afternoon with mostly sunny skies. But the clouds started moving in late.

Another low-pressure forming in the Gulf(further south than Sat.) will give the area a 70-80% rain chance on Tuesday. The heavier rains are expected to stay along the coast. There is a slight chance of freezing precip. for SW Mississippi late Tuesday night. Another stronger system is supposed to move thru the area on Thursday.

I got 1.2" of rain on the gauge at the house on Saturday.

Check-out these raw temps in the middle of the afternoon; in the 40's statewide

Only 40 in Alexandria and just 37 in NacogdochesTX.....

but look

a pocket of warmer air in SBC of 44 due to all the movie making and activity along the riverfront casino's and the La.Boardwalk

Hey slidellWX....does the "El-Nino" seem to be fading somewhat?? Back to a more normal weather pattern?? BR had it's wettest January since 1998 with around 8 inches of rain.

The weather was really nice today and high temps made it up to 71 !!!

That's some serious bone chilling cold up north. International Falls Minnesota had like five consecutive day's below 0 this week :wacko:

That was a serious tornado in central Florida last Friday.

Unfortunately this severe weather system^^^ produced a deadly tornado in the New Orleans area. An 86-year old lady living in a FEMA trailer was killed. Very sad. Downed trees an power outages for Westwego and the Carrollton area. How much more can those poor residents take?? Also tornados were reported in the Lafayette area near New Iberia and Breaux Bridge. A possible tornado for coastal Mississippi too.

After doing the storm surveys yesterday we determined that 2 tornadoes affected the the New Orleans Metro. There was a weak tornado in eastern Pearl River County, MS, another tornado in the Orange Grove area north of Gulfport, and a tornado that was on the ground briefly near Ocean Springs. The strongest tornadoes were in New Orleans and Westwego. This was a very unusaul event for this area. The death in New Orleans was the first tornado related death in the city since records have been kept.

BE ON THE LOOKOUT....The NWS was calling for most of the state to be under a "moderate" risk of severe weather on Saturday afternoon into the evening. Strong winds and hail a possibility. The timing of the main squall-line is still unsure??

If you could possibly update us on this developing volitile weather situation SlidellWX? It would be much appreciated. :thumbsup: Thanks.
