One thing I love about New Orleans is the "color" in this city. Whether it's the colorful personalities of the people here, or the bright orange's, green's, and yellow's you see all over the city. You see plenty of that color along Gravier Street in downtown New Orleans:

So where did your cousin get that shield and the swords? I don't think I've ever seen anything like that for sail at my local Wal-Mart.

No, Im sure they didn't come from Wal*Mart. I asked him could I have them, he said no, his best friend's mom gave it to him as a graduation gift. He doesn't graduate until the spring of this year.

Very nice pictures, everyone!

Brian: loved the views of downtown Shreveport as well as the parade, and you did an awesome job with the different photoshop effects, especially on that statue photo!

Louisiana Thunder: That's actually a very cool swords & shield set. I saw something similar in a store on St. Ann Street in the French Quarter, though that looks like it's probably much better quality.

Thought I'd post these two photos showing the wonderful effects of my Hoya HMC Circular Polarizer.

In this scene, the sky was a very bright blue/white color due to the posistion of the sun, but the polarizer gave the sky that awesome deep blue color in the photo:

And it this photo, the polarizer gave the entire sky a more more vivid blue coloring, and the upper portion in the photo came out with a very deep blue that I love:

Hey Nate have you tried experimenting with your CP very much? Try some shots at a 90 degree angle from the sun. I think that might get you some interesting results.

Nope, now that you mention it, I sure haven't. Thanks for the tip, I'll try that out tommorow!

I love that sky photo Nate.

Thanks, Dan!

You can see some image noise (the "spots") towards the top of the photo, as I had my ISO on 800 from the night before and just forgot to change it before I snapped that photo. However, I still liked the color in the photo.

I didn't even notice the noise until you pointed it out, Nate! A higher ISO isn't too noticeable in daylight, compared to nighttime! Nice sky... I agree with Rod, try it at a 90-degree angle to the sun. The polarizer is an awesome tool. I grabbed a UV filter for my new lens this weekend. Until I get a polarizer for it I at least wanted the extra layer of protection. The UV filter does little to nothing ot filter out the UV haze it's made for, but it does help to protect your lens. Better safe than sorry, so I figured I'd play it safe. The 72mm filters are a bit more expensive than my 58mm filters, though!

Anyway, onto my latest photo... the Shreveport skyline from Greenwood Cemetary. I'd never been in this cemetary before and I was amazed to see that there's a pretty impressive view of the skyline from a bluff on the northern edge of the property. Sorry for the power lines... if I could have moved them, I would have!! ;)

Everyone IS posting some good stuff! I'm going to get back in here with one of my own. :)

Artisan's Court mural, West Edge Arts District, downtown Shreveport (does that guy on the left side of this photo look like Andre Braugher to anyone else?) He's supposed to come back to film something else this year. Maybe... though not likely.... this could have been him. ;)

Awesome photo, Brian. The Shreveport skyline is awesome, you to see it in person to get the full effect though. :D

I'm really glad you enjoyed it, man. I do hope you get a chance to explore the city more in the future. The traffic around the casinos and Boardwalk can be rough on weekends, and if you don't have much time to spare it can be hard to get a chance to enjoy it. I hope you get a chance to drive in from the east on I-20 sometime... it's truly Shreveport's best skyline viewpoint.
