WOW!! Between Medtronic Sofamor Danek in Memphis ans Nissan in Cool Springs almost 2,000 direct and an estimated 18,000 indirect jobs (Source: Tennessean) have been announced in Tennessee in the last two days. Keep it coming...

Let us not forget the TVA mega-site in Crockett County West Tennessee, imagine if we get Enterpise South a plant and it a plant, by golly we'd be the Michigan of the South (as somebody eluded to earlier).

I caught this in the Commercial Appeal. Tennessee's two largest cities are shining again. Congrats to St. Jude and Vandy!

They've already got a Starbucks. Maybe with a Ben & Jerry's, they could improve their ranking: St. Jude Children's Research Hospital made it to No. 7 in The Scientist magazine's third Best Places to Work in Academia survey.

The annual rankings, which put South Carolina's Clemson University in the top spot and Vanderbilt University at No. 5, are featured in the magazine's current issue.

The rankings were based on a survey of readers who identified themselves as tenured or tenure-track scientists working at public or nonprofit research institutions.

They completed an online questionnaire that focused on working conditions, including relationships with peers, access to research resources and sense of accomplishment.
