How tall is the courthouse ? Looks to be well over 300 ft.

Also, when does it start ?

Thanks.

<{POST_SNAPBACK}>

Cool, someone is actually interested in what's going on down here :) I thought I was talking to myself this whole time....LOL

I haven't found any dimensions on the new courthouse, but your guess of around 300 feet sounds about right. The thing is, they are still fine-tuning the project, because some are saying there is not enough ground level activity/space for people to enjoy. No start date has been announced. The tower was designed by Richard Meier, so it should be a sleek addition to the skyline, even though it's not very tall.

BTW, what's your prognosis on the mayoral race ? I see where the two Republicans got better than 50% of the vote in the prelimenary. So I suppose that should bode well for a single REpublican candidate.

And I don't dislike Fry, but I read somewhere that she might be bad for development.

Here are the final poll results:

Donna Frye (Dem/Ex-Surfer Chick) 43.42%

Jerry Sanders (Rep/Ex-Police Chief) 27.01%

Steve Francis (Rep/Wealthy Businessman) 23.50%

The November run-off election will be between the two top candidates, Frye and Sanders. Even though, Frye received a majority of the votes, I would imagine that those who voted for Francis will vote for Sanders. In the end, we'll probably end up with Republican Jerry Sanders as Mayor.

Frye is supposedly tough on development, so if she somehow wins, we could probably say goodbye to a new main library, which would be a shame. Jerry Sanders, from what I heard, is a more liberal Republican candidate. I guess that's good.

We'll see what goes down in November.
