and recently White Lodging closed on this property according to the Charlotte Ledger

""A company called Charlotte Tryon Hotel LLC bought two parcels totaling 0.626 acres on the corner of South Tryon and West Bland streets in South End last week, county property records show. It’s a vacant lot across the street from The RailYard development. The sales price: $8M, which translates to $12.8M an acre. The purchaser appears to be affiliated with hotel management company White Lodging of Merrillville, Ind., which developed the new JW Marriott on College Street uptown.""

expect a high rise hotel here and 300 plus rooms I am hearing.

Amazing news!  Is this the lot next to the MacLaren showroom or the one next to Tavern on the Tracks?  I’ll be there for the Panthers/Falcons game and look forward to scoping it out.

I can’t keep track of all of this.  What’s the Cousin’s project?

it is office and apartment tower but the office is on ice unless tenant is found.  the apartments might move forward on an empty lot on Bland by the tracks.

There’s been a definite slow down of new planned High Rise Projects breaking ground but that aside, it’s pretty impressive how much is actually under construction throughout Center City (Uptown, Dilworth, SouthEnd).  Many of our peer cities would love to have as much going on (looking at you Jacksonville)

CBJ reports that the last day of operation for Tyber Creek will be March 18th.

Quote

Tyber Creek has secured a 4,500-square-foot, street-level space in commercial developer Southern Land Co.’s mixed-use, high-rise building planned for the same site. That building at 1933 South Blvd. will have 300 luxury apartments.

Based on recent talks with Southern Land, he expects the development to take 24 to 36 months after the pub closes. Timmins says Southern Land been committed to allowing the pub to wind down operations. Word came in recent weeks that the project was ready to advance.
