Wrong hotel. You're thinking the Best Western. The hotel in those images is the old Marriott Bonvoy/The Morgan. It's behind the shopping center that has the Fedex Store (aka the old Harpers). Still not the fanciest area but not the one with BK outside but you can walk to two gay bars, two banks, and the KFC.

Was at the office and thought it was interesting looking south (from 10th floor 3WF over the roof of The Green)…

Duke Energy on the left and the new Legacy Union Building on the right…

The stuff immediately across the street are for sale properties and not rentals…so, possible…

That fountain has been around for a while…here’s my grandpa in front of it circa 1946.

Does anyone remember what the diner/drive in was that was at the location of the Cookout? I remember it but can’t recall the name.

Saturday appears to have been the last day of the crane…rode bike by early Sunday morning and it appears to be down. South Tryon is closed in front of the building (assuming for the weekend) and the pedestrian tunnel is gone. Notice in the second picture that the infamous parking kiosk appears to still be onsite.
