I think we've basically circled around to previous conversation about city hall.  That seems to me to be the crux of the issue--as long as city hall is there, the use of that block is somewhat locked.  Is there ANY possibility that city leaders would consider relocating?  I think very unlikely.  Even more unlikely that the federal building would be relocated...

City offices are located all over the (mainly) downtown area, they would be so much better off selling their many properties and building a new, larger city hall.  The ramp below is in pretty rough shape and can't even accommodate larger modern vehicles.  Just raze that whole damn block with the fed and state buildings too.  It's urban renewal crap, the layout sucks and it's empty almost all the time sans a few events... such a waste of space.  We're not the GR of the 1960s anymore.

Space is weird but certainly a location that could either A) be completely redeveloped or B) add to it for more density and given its location would be one of the few spots left where an iconic tower would look great in the middle of the core. If there was going to be a new tallest in the city, this would be one of the best spots while keeping the existing buildings and the calder. Also looks very similar to this building I saw in Denver, could the buildings be merged to form a larger one and consolidate some of the other offices into one?image.thumb.png.d312d2169bcb96e2d6ca647509b56f0d.png
