  1. There are bus stops all over Springfield. Of course at every major intersection as well as most secondary intersections then speratically placed on the sides of the roads. All of the bus stops at the major intersections are covered as well a downtown and others. I would say there are easily 50 covered bus stops in Springfield.
  2. The number of paid riders on just the Springfield Bus System was 1.47 million in 2005. The city is expecting a 15% increase in 2006 along with a new downtown Station by 2008.
  3. Not really that bare, just taken from the ghetto railroad tracks west of downtown. That photo is also looking at the buildings in the square and not including the other taller buildings down by hammons tower.
  4. Here are some photos to start out the topic. This is the downtown area. Hammons Field at night (downtown) Upper Half of the One Park Place condos (downtown) Taken under the Grant Street Bridge looking to Park Central Square.
  5. Amtrak passenger train service could come to Springfield within a year or two. "The Missouri Department of Transportation is working with Amtrak to develop a daily round-trip route between Springfield and St. Louis. The route would include stops at Lebanon, Rolla, Sullivan and Kirkwood. The project is only in early stages of development, but it can't come soon enough for retired railroad worker Glenn Martin. "We've ridden Amtrak trains before, and it was marvelous," said Martin, a 35-year veteran of the Frisco and Burlington Northern rail companies." 6. Yeah you really don't, although there are some in midsized metros, I really think it depends on the traffic more than anything. I can't wait for these to get done but I'm sure when their being built it will really hold up traffic Anyway's by 2011 all three flyover intersections will be completed in Springfield thanks to the 6th largest Highway cut Missouri got from the Fed Gov.
  7. I have noticed that some Springfield construction companies such as Flintco and Killian Co. have been doing alot of work down in NWA. It's also nice to see NWA getting a Homewood Suites.
  8. WOW! After looking at all those pics I think I will just have to visit Grand Rapids. I have alway's wanted to go to one of the great lakes anyway's and this just gives me an even better reason to go. Thanks for all the pics guy's!
  9. The I-44/US 65 interchange in northeast Springfield is getting it's outdated cloverleaf design 4 new flyover ramps starting this summer. The first phase will be completed by the end of this year and the seconde phase has not been set for construction. This same design is going to be done at the US 60/65 interchange in southeast Springfield. OTO (Ozarks Transportation Organization) is making plans for widening US 65 to 6 lanes from I-44 to a point in Ozark. The timetable has not been set but city officials are pushing for this project to get done as soon as possible becasue of the traffic congestion along this stretch of highway. 10. Thank you monsoon for making a Springfield Branson subforum. Now those of us who live here can showcase all of our exciting developments and attractions.
  11. I'm sorry to rain on your NWA pride TIMMY! First off the only statement that was ever slightly misleading was the population that Springfield would reach by adding Taney and Stone counties (550,000) but in order to get that pop. it would be a combination of Lawrence and Dade along with Taney and Stone, which I later said. I have never said anything that states Springfield is better than NWA, but I quess your just mad at the fact that someone else is posting good developments in the Ozarks and you just want everyone to know about NWA. From the get-go you have been on my *** and havn't quit. Ohhh....Talking about skewed facts tim 2462 " XNA is growing faster than the Springfield airport and will continue to expand and add more flights." Here is the TRUE FACTS on the SGF airport: "In the first half of 2005, passenger numbers have increased 25.1% over the first half of 2004. (The 721,958 passengers in 2004 was a record for SGF and a 10% increase over 2003.) Continuing at this pace, the airport will likely see 900,000 to 1 million passengers by the end of this year." HERE ARE THE LINKS FOR THAT INFORMATION: SGF 2006 passenger #'s/SGF 04-05 passenger #'s SGF hasn't been below 500,000 passengers for 10 years now! YES.... I know NWA is growing at a fast rate! I don't know what you have against Springfield but you need to grow up and realize that the whole country is growing and not just NWA!
  12. Yeah, I guess. Thats just what the airport officials were predicting so you never know what could happen. Springfield also has the advantage of being the 2nd fastest growing airport in the nation though, and while most airports are cancleing flights Springfield is adding at a fast rate.
  13. It's kind of weird that XNA has more flights than SGF seeing how much higher SGF's passenger numbers are and the larger facility that SGF has over XNA. I guess its because of Walmart.
  14. Springfield does have a flight to Atlanta (the world busiest airport), it started last December. I'm not sure what flight's exactly but in a News-Leader article they were thinking San Diego, Seattle, Phili... I don't think they really know quite yet. Here's a list of the flights out of Springfield: Atlanta Las Vegas Orlando Dallas/ Ft. Worth Minneapolis Denver Memphis Chicago St. Louis Cincinnati Detroit Kansas City
  15. It's cool that both Ozark airports are growing at such a fast rate. The Springfield Branson National Airport (SGF) is the 2nd fastest growing airport in the nation and airport officials are predticting that 06's passengers numbers will be at or over 1 million. This prediction comes after last years total at more than 880,000 passengers. They are also expecting that the airport will get 4 new flights.
