  1. Flyover Ramp to open the week of June 25! I know that I will not use the interchange at all when they work on the 65 bridge over I-44.
  2. Post anything you want... this is a topic for miscellaneous and anything else you feel like saying. HAVE FUN!
  3. What!!!! The flyover will be done next week? Are you sure? If thats true then that is amazing!
  4. Hey, thats some great news for NWA. We all know how it feel's here in Springfield... were all waiting for the new Midfield Terminal to get finished in 08'. Airport officials stated that with Springfield's phenomenol increase in passenger numbers, and with the brand new airport, we will be very surprised what is to come. I just hope it lives up to that. I've never been to, or seen photos of, the NWA airport. Is it pretty big? I'm sure that the added concourse will be very nice at 20 million. I saw that the article stated the airport currently has room for 12 gates, so does this expansion mean it will have 16?
  5. I was wondering that same thing. The supports for the skywalk are way too close to the road for expansion. Maybe they will put temporary supports during construction and build news ones to make way for the road.?
  6. I try to avoid it at all costs. If you were to take National to James River Frwy. it would take 10-15 minuets to do so from Battlefield during rush hour. AHHH.... I'm just glad their doing something about it. Although they need to widen National to 6 lanes from Battlefield.
  7. Yeah, they were to start that project this week. It's only supposed to take 6 months!
  8. hey thats the US 65/Sunshine enterchange, very cool. The Glenstone I-44 Interchange will be the same concept except the on-off ramps will be above the highway instead of below. It looks like they are getting ready to pour the concrete for the flyover at 44/65. Thanks for the photo!
  9. Thanks for starting this topic, it should have been done a long time ago. I LOVE the artwalks, downtown looks so urban at night espeacially with all those thousands of people. I still havent been to the Monarch Gallery, which I hear is getting rave reviews. My favorite Galleries would have to be Hawthorne and the one right next to it, can't think of the name? It's crazy how far downtown has come in such a short amount of time. BTW... I really like that moving photo at the top!
  10. Great news everyone!!! Springfield will be getting its second SPUI (Single Point Urban Interchange),like that of the Sunshine/65 interchange, at Glenstone and I-44. After attending the meeting at the Springfield MODOT office last week, I got to see the plans. From what I saw it looks like they are planning on widening the intersection to handle 8 future lanes on I-44! They will also replace the current Glenstone Bridges over I-44 to accomodate a wider, 8 lane span, bridge! Glenstone will also be widened to three lanes up to a point north of Valley Watermill Road with a new interchange at Valley Watermill and Glenstone! Construction should start in 2008 with an estimated completion date in 2010!
  11. I will be going to the meeting on tuesday because my family owns property at the valley watermill and glenstone intersection. I don't think the "Diamond" status rules out the single point interchange because I think that is considered a diamond interchange. Hopefully I can get some pictures to post on here after the meeting.
  12. Awesome! Thanks for the photos pyaxi. Just think what that will look like in the future when the put in the other 3 flyovers. For an update on the 60/65 interchange, they will start construction in early 2009 with a completion date as soon as spring 2011. The flyover ramps will be constructed first to aleviate the traffic backups during the rest of the construction. I cant wait to see the finished product.
  13. MoDOT to host open house over Glenstone-Interstate 44 interchange proposal
  14. WOW! That is really ambitous of them to come up with a long term plan like that, although they owe it to Missourians after taking our money. The only problem is there is no funding for it and they will have to ask the feds for more money to even accomplish some of it. Thanks for that PDF Pyaxi!
  15. Pyaxi, that I-44 to eight lanes was only a recomendation, there is no money for it right now and the state gov. will have to pass a bill on it before anything will become of it. Can you give a link to the PDF? Just wanting to read it.
  16. I noticed that as well about Kansas. The only thing is that when Kansas Expwy. reaches Chestnut they will have to aquire land all the way to I-44 to widen it throughout the whole city. I still can't believe that a city our size doesn't have a 6 lane road or expressway through town. Glenstone will be another fun road to widen! LOL
  17. It will happen the question is when? Propably about 15-20 years. Once the smaller underutilized roads like Benton, Trafficway, and Division to five lanes, chestnut will propably get widened and upgraded to a freeway status. However it would take at least 3-5 years for it to be completed. Meaning all the interchanges and land aquisitions that are needed.
  18. Thanks for the pics Pyaxi! That interchange is goign to look great once completed. I can't wait!
  19. Has anyone driven by the 65/I-44 Interchange? They are making lots of progress and the steel for the first flyover is almost complete. It is really starting to look like a BIG URBAN INTERCHANGE.
  20. According to the traffic volume map, in 2005 National had a volume of 40,000 cars a day from Battlefield to James River and in 2003 Glenstone had 35,000 cars a day from Sunset to James River. Whats even more crazy is that Campbell had a count of 43,000 and that still is only 5 lanes. We are going to have some really, really bad traffic in a couple of years. here's a link to a traffic map for that area......http://www.ci.springfield.mo.us/egov/publi.../info/ADTse.pdf
  21. It will be six lanes from James River Frwy. to Battlefield Rd. on National,. The first phase will consist of the widening to six lanes south of Primrose and then the second phase is widening from Primrose to Battlefield. The same design aesthetics are being planned for Glenstone Ave. from James River Frwy. to Sunset (the road that lines the north side of the mall). These projects should have been done along time ago. I compared traffic counts on roads with 6 lanes or more in cities the same size as Springfield. Needless to say, Springfield had some much higher numbers than those of other cities with 6 lane roads. Leave it too Missouri to always lag behind. At least we NOW have a good plan to fix all of these bottlenecks.
  22. I thought I would go ahead and post the Plans for the intersection...
  23. Here is some info on XNA from today's addition of the Springfield New-Leader. Thought ya'll would want to know. Northwest Arkansas looks to lure Southwest Airlines Highfill, Ark.
