where did AA move their hub when they left RDU? I seem to recall talks of Greensboro.

they really just need to tear it down and start fresh, but that would shoot the price tag up tremendously.

its about time they start construction on this. this has been on the drawing board for years. i believe palmer's group designed the course in 1999. it was embarrassing that ncsu didn't have a campus golf course.

there is nothing wrong with having two terminals. It eases one giant overcrowding mess. It also leaves room for a lot of expansion in the future.

while not the ideal solution, it is going to fill up the void there now. I'm sure years down the road, something will change. We will just have to wait and see.

That would be a great location for some much needed residential.

How is this project not going to be finished until 2009? Won't portions of the new terminal C be open in the next year? It seems like they are progressing rather smoothly out there with whatever building that they are working on. They need to push the button on this project with the current state of Terminal A. It is an eyesore.

IMO Diamondview missed the boat not incorporating residential into the upper floors. Those things could've sold for a pretty penny. Not to mention, how cool would it be to watch a baseball game from your living room.

if you look at the cost inflation, it really isn't that much more. I'm not sure exactly what this entails, but it seems like a good business move. And now would be as good as a time than ever to go ahead with it. You figure, it would have to be done at some point.

Good point about post 9/11. This will look very impressive to travellers that will go through the airport. I think the new terminal will finally impress some people.

i hope it isn't too late to incorporate future rail plans into this design. oh well, prob is. they will have to figure something else out.

hillsborough st. has turned into a dump, good luck to this project. the city did this to themselves and it is funny how the University doesn't really seem to mind.

i've been hearing about this for years. it is having a real hard time getting off the ground.

this project will take a long time to unfold. There are a lot of pieces to come together, but i'm being optimistick that it will happen and be successful.

Frankfurt was pretty impressive, as was Zurich's as well. A ton of different tails from all over the place. JFK is my favorite though. There are airlines there I never even heard of.

I hope with the new terminal being built, that the airport authority is getting bids from international carriers. that will really help put RDU on the map. Also, I hope they plan on connecting the 2 terminals one day, perhaps by a shuttle train underground, but it might be too late for this since i've read nothing in the plans about that. I guess maybe a people mover will exist between the two.

The sad reality is that RDU claims to be an international airport, but only has one flight that goes abroad. I think it is to London, correct me if I'm wrong. Anyways, Charlotte-Douglas has made great strides to attract real international carriers. I was shocked when I went through there last month. It really feels like a real airport. RDU is missing that for some reason. I think Raleigh should attempt to get more international friendly and that would really help put it on the map.

The neighborhoods just north of there are screaming for help. Great old houses that people have let run down and now are filled with troublemakers. this project could help steer that area back in the right direction.

This will really help RDU compete with Charlotte-Douglas. RDU has a real shot of becoming NC's main airport due to its proximity. I heard a lot of people from VA come to RDU as well.

That is a good little area, they will have a lot of work to do in cleaning it up though.
