  1. Well it's official - Arby's purchased Wendy's Oh boy... http://www.woodtv.com/Global/story.asp?S=8220741
  2. Maybe they are open so other people can call in and ask them when they're going to open?
  3. Produce is starting to pick up HORRAY! I got some AWESOME watermelon this past weekend...and corn on the cob is back! A bit off-topic -- but does anyone know when the fulton st farmers market begins? I'm planning to make some trips down there this summer so I can get some (hopefully) cheaper prices on food.
  4. omg. omg. omg. omg. please. please. please. -crosses fingers-
  5. I can see both sides to this really...but I think the argument could be made that if a streetcar system was implemented - you can always have taxis dropping people off at the stations. To me anyways, it seems the more transit options you have in a city - the better and more attractive your city looks to developers, and the more public transit becomes in use.
  6. I would have to say that a more robust taxi presence would be beneficial considering that you can be anywhere on the street and hail a cab for a ride to somewhere. Given the fact (and let's be realistic here) that we won't have any streetcar or train systems for a few years - having more taxis in the area would sure help public transit a lot more.
  7. Is there a big taxi presence in GR? I know there's the one that uses hybrids and I'm sure there's some sort of taxi service for the airports - but I've never seen an actual taxi cab downtown before - then again I am not in downtown much.
  8. Just a quick question - I'm not experienced when it comes to cost of construction products - but if Meijer were to take their entire front of the store and make it all glass - would anyone believe that would cost more than the blank wall that they put up...or even multiple skylights? I still to this day will never understand why they can't do an all glass front to bring in natural light.
  9. well im some aspects arby's is right because the one i go to i have to wait about 5 minutes before they bring my food to me - they're very slow.

  11. That brochure got me thinking... What if Woodland Mall did something similar like that with an open roof in their mall - but in the winters (or when it rains) they could put a retractable roof over the walkway to keep things dry and warm. Wonder if there are malls out there that do that. Even a glass roof wouldn't be so bad - more energy efficient too
  12. Yeah and you also wonder how long it'll be before all the potholes set in and people will get ticked off.
  13. My only beef with that site plan is they should have bumped up major A and major B up to the road so nobody has to see a huge sea of parking. And then the bank could have been moved to the parking spot in front of Major C. Otherwise - this is a lot better than the other site plan that was on here before.
  14. Grab your wallets and the gas nozzle - construction season is here!
  15. That lobby kind of gives me a feeling that it should be more of a multi-story mall on market and fulton But it's still nice as a cancer center.
  16. I don't understand why they can't build a parking garage, or is there something more to it?
  17. That's a shame - Whole Foods could do so well in that development in my opinion.
  18. before you know it all these medical buildings are going to expand to the freakin beltline and create a medical utopia this is crazy but im not complaining
  19. Yeah I agree - And it's not like it's all that much of a bad thing - Michigan has plenty of locations to choose from - even though it doesn't benefit exactly everyone in the state - but there ya go.
  20. I found an interesting article on Treehugger today about BRT's and bicycles. Interesting read I thought. Can BRT Encourage Bike Use? And a new train service in Spain that is trying beat airline travel time - the train clocks in at 220mph Train Article
  21. That rendering pdf of the i96/beltline/196 mess is really dead on - if that were to be done it would create so much better traffic conditions there.
  22. Maybe that empty sign is a foreshadowing of things to come
  23. That's a shame because that was my favorite rendering - but I like the current one too.
