  1. Doesn't the dark glass building make you think of a good replacement for the city hall buildings?
  2. I don't know about anyone else - but when I go shopping for a car I go for the cheapest price possible
  3. Yeah I've been seeing a lot of different commercials lately... Dave & Busters Jack In The Box Joe's Crashback White Castle There was another one too - a furniture store and I can't remember what the stinkin name was - it was something different that we don't have here in the area. (not ikea)
  4. Yeah that's not a big surprise - all the area dial-a-ride services are raising their fees. Greenville's residents had such an uproar about the town canceling Saturday's service that it pretty much forced to bring them back with hiked fees...
  5. Since we're posting trail pictures... Here's a shot I took back on the 10th of the trail here in Greenville (I took some shots back in the spring but all the greenery wasn't there yet)
  6. I have 2 words for TC Cherry. Republic. =insert drool=
  7. Some not so good news today Cut in Service and Spending Hitting Ford Airport
  8. It's nice - has somewhat of the same type of look as the Kennedy center downtown.
  9. As much as I love the design - my response to that was LMAO - really I did laugh my asphalt out.
  10. I totally beg to differ. It's about freakin time that GR is finally getting some modern architecture into the scene. As nice as all the buildings are - about what 90 percent of them are brick? We need more funky architecture like this into future projects. Now if that mystery building renderings that were found for market/fulton would come to life...
  11. You know it's funny -- I was just thinking the other day about if the MSU building would have any green night time lights shining in the building - and there's that one little strip. I think it would be cool if the parts in the middle where it's all glass just lit up in green. GR needs to get more colorful.
  12. Yeah that does make a lot of sense...and I think it would be fantastic if the GR campus converts into a Graduate School...being that grad schools don't necessarily have to be as big compared to regular campuses. They do have a lot of land out there in Allendale to play with. I just wish that they would expand a little bit more and eat up those darn parking lots with some nice campus buildings. I always wonder what it would look like if the allendale campus never existed. They could have had a river walk with a bridge across the river - have some nice buildings going in the city riverside 16 acre ordeal with a giant football stadium - would definitely give GR more of a big college town feel.
  13. Oh that is just ridiculous Unless they are predicting an upcoming winter storm/ice jam?
  14. That's really sad... But - I suppose you can't please everybody.
  15. Yeah - I definitely see your point now I was thinking the inside didn't need much work - but the outside - oh heck yeah...it could be a lot taller - I like that first pic. Here's some other ones I like: Doesn't this just scream DeVos Hall?
  16. Well I am not an expert on airports but I just had my first visit inside the actual airport to pick my parents up back from their vegas trip in February. I'd have to say the iniside looks pretty neat - although with all the new construction I could see the terminal looking a bit dated - but it's not TERRIBLE in any standards. I have been in the O'Hare airport once too - my god what a mess.
  17. I looked on GRR's website and all of the carriers conduct flights within the US - no international - maybe that'll change soon - or maybe they did before? But the flights go to chicago and laguardia which im sure do international.
  18. I always love it when someone can take super fantastic nighttime shots of GR - thanks for sharing that!
  19. I hope so too because I'm not a huge fan of Arby's - I'm not a huge fan of any fast food place really - but Wendy's would be my first choice. I would imagine that Arby's would keep some of Wendy's staples such as their burgers - or their frosty's - now that they'll have access to the recipes.
  20. I've been wondering what Meijer has been thinking with the D&W landing a location on Michigan - basically the only full-sized grocery store closest to downtown. I wonder if Meijer is even considering entering the urban market, and making GR a test location for such a store. Perhaps they could purchase or lease a vacant building downtown and convert it into just a grocery store and see how it is well received. I had the strangest dream last night that Meijer built a supercenter on that 16 acre city lot south of 131 along the river - with a huge blank wall facing the river. Scared me to death But they at least had parking on top of the building and on neighboring properties.
  21. Interesting you mention this - because I was just thinking about Belding and Greenville that have old railroad stations next to railroads that are currently not in use (although I've been informed that there is talks in the coming years of converting this into an extension of the Fred Meijer Trail....thanks Fred ) ...and even though that's a stretch - the rail connects down to lowell and then zips over to GR which would make a great point that transit needs to be extended beyond GR and Kent County... The Belding Depot (also named Pere Marquette Depot) was vacant back in its day And here's what it looks like today: Belding currently uses this for town hall meetings - it's been completely renovated and landscaped outside (sorry I don't have more pictures) The one in Greenville isn't being used - and I do believe it is still there and standing:
  22. Nothing new really in this news article - but an interesting read nonetheless http://blogs.tnr.com/tnr/blogs/environment...ghway-bias.aspx
