  1. From what I am reading on this site, it doesn't sound like they even need 65 floors. The tower is selling at a slow pace, they are even resorting to TV to try and sell some of these condo's. Is there really ANY chance that this thing get's out of the ground in 2007?
  2. Here's the Stones River Mall website: http://www.stonesrivermall.com Maybe they'll put construction news on their eventually, but right now I can tell yo there's a lot of construction!
  3. I don't think edb2n's comment was meant to be hateful (because as you see, he put a smily face there!) There are different strokes for different folks. As I've said many times, I too used to life in lake forest estates in La Vergne. People park carsin the yard, let mold accumulate on the house where you think it was originally green, and all sorts of other stuff. I take pride in having a nice house, yard, etc.. and it means nothing if my neighbors don't practice somewhat the same ideals. I think there is middle ground between HOA nazi and joe redneck, but I'm just trying to illustrate the fact that if you don't care how much of a dump your neighbor's property looks like, there are places where you can be happy.
  4. I think you have to think about what makes the 2 cities what they are? Murfreesboro has MTSU; Clarksville has Ft. Campbell Murfreesboro appeals farther than MTSU at this point, but fact is it wouldn't be the city it is today without the growth of MTSU (Cumberland College in Lebanon and Austin Peay in Clarksville haven't garnered the same growth for whatever reason). The starter homes in clarksville are probably intended for the low budget and regular relocations of their military personel. I would imagine that at least a large minority of Fort Campbell soldiers either get transferred prior to retrement, or move back 'home' when they retire. While Murfreesboro may not have the thousands of starter homes, Lake Forest Estates does (most of the houses built prior to 2003 are good size nice homes; after that, you get 900 sq ft, no parking except in the yard, and neighbors who are so close they hear you flush the toilet.
  5. so is the China airlines jet the largest plane flying in and out of here regularly?
  6. I am currently a Sams Club guy, but my neighbor lives at Costco and says it's better. I'd probably switch if Costco comes to Rutherford county
  7. I-440 is an interstate and it only travels 7 miles! 840 probably won't be an interstate because it was built with state funds only (no federal funds) If you ask my wife, I'll be lucky to ever reproduce! But if Abraham could reproduce into his second century, well...
  8. My first real job in high school (in Atlanta) was working for Publix. They do a great job of instilling work ethic in teenagers. They teach loyalty to the customer and responsibility as an employee, and if you don't meet those, you can always work at Kroger! I was thrilled when the Smyrna Publix opened. Yes, I will occasionaly visit the Kroger and Wal-Mart. But if I just need to run out and get a few things, I don't check the ad's. I just go to Publix
  9. Wow, you mean they'll be done by the year 3008? I bet my great-great-grandchildren will be thrilled!
  10. Hey, believe me, I'm glad that MTSU and D1 football is here too; But I bet if you had an opening game at Neyland with 30% of the seats empty, it wouldn't be viewed as positive. At least MTSU has an excuse why their attendance is low (suitcase college, unknown opponents, still building a D1 program); Vanderbilt is an embarrasment to the state of Tennessee. If their stadium ever reaches 70% capacity, you can be sure that at least 50% of the fans are cheering for Vandy's opponent!
  11. I think the local stations give murfreesboro a fair shake. Maybe in 10 years if the I-24 corridor continues it's current pace, an additional station would be successful.
  12. Why is it so big news that MTSU had 20,000 in attendence? That means there were 15,000 empty seats! Give me a reason to go and I'll go. a 7-6 win doesn't scream 'excitement,' but if they continue winning, that will get people like me to give them a shot.
  13. wow lexy, that's great! I can't believe you were allowed to get that close?
  14. They have some neat paint schemes on their planes. There's another one that's got the whole plane painted and looks REALLY COOL!
  15. yeah, newschannel5 said the same thing (no $$$ in the budget) just about 6 months ago
  16. That would be great! If you end up going the wrong direction on 840, you have to drive FOREVER to turn around, unless you use the cop turnaround (yes, I have done this once...)
  17. I know the greenways are supposed to run from Murfreesboro-Smyrna-La Vergne-Antioch-South Nashville-Riverfront park. I don't know beyond that. The theory is that you should be able to ride a bik of a haul though). I also know that La Vergne has received their funds but has not begun work on their part of the project. No surprise there...
  18. Hey, if you guys want to meet for a burger at Toot's, go to a blue raiders game, or play 18 at Old Fort Golf course, that sounds like fun! I guess I'd just like to hear more from the board. I don't bring muc from an insider or engineers viewpoint. My interest in this board revolves more around what you guys know is going on.
  19. What, meet everyone and lose the anonymity of the board? I wouldn't want all of you to find out that, in reality, I'm Al Gore! no wait, maybe I'm Michael Moore? no... even better.... I'm Elvis, Alive and well!!!!!!! In all seriousness, I certainly am in no position to commit every Saturday, and I doubt there would be more than a few of us. Plus, I'm really more interested in Rutherford County as a whole, as compared to just the 'boro. And don't worry justice, Nashville doesn't just hate Murfreesboro. I think they hate the whole I-24 corridor from Harding on down; think so too?
  20. Lexy, have you never walked down 1st avenue between the midrises and the river? What's wrong with that? I do wish there were some nicer entrances on the 1st avenue side, but oh well
  21. Hey, here's something I just learned: Councourse D is closed? Why did they build it if no one is using it?
  22. Wow, the third largeset in Tennessee? But of course, that wouldn't be the case if Knox, Hamilton, and Montgomery went Metro. Montgomery would probably have the easiest route towards a county metro because they lack large, growing cities with their own identity. I think I've made it clear that I'm opposed to a Murfreesboro/Rutherford county metro.
  23. I wish I had a camera phone! There is a picture of the final version inside the mall (well, not so much a picture as much a floor plan). It's in the window of a closed shop right across from Victoria's Secret. If anyone wants to go get a shot and post here, that's where you'll find it. I'll try and get it next time I'm there, which isn't too often.
  24. I voted for murfreesboro even though it shouldn't be on this list. The City Center is 15 storis according to Emporis; pretty close to your 20. And if you think Murfreesboro looks stupid without additional tall buildings, what did you think of Nashville in the 50's? The City Center is nothing compared to the size of the L&C. I personally don't want to see a bunch of 10-20 foot towers in the boro. It'll take away from the college town feel.
  25. I like the idea of underground utilities, and I support the regulation of driveway size and length (this has caused a BIG problem in parts of La Vergne where builders only have to provide 2 parking spots (including the garage), so people fill up their garage with junk, only have 1 place to park on the driveway, and you get cited for parking on the street, so what do people do? Park in their yards and on the sidewalks! I don't like mandatory home owners associations. I don't personally want someone telling me what I can do with my property. If the city thinks it's that big a deal, then regulate grass height, yeards, etc... and enforce it through your codes department.
