  1. 1989 called and wants it's design back. Those flags look like Dr. Huxtable's sweater.
  2. I totally understand your point br0guy and you're right, rivalries are needed and exciting (especially in-state or in-city) when building/maintaining a program. But, I don't think it is the intention of ODU to create a footbal team, renovate and ultimately expand the stadium, build practice facilities/weight rooms and recruit players to play NSU every year. I think there are big time aspirations there and I maintain that those aspirations can not be fulfilled playing NSU or schools like NSU (unless of course I completely misread the ODU program/situation). Not hating on NSU, but I think ODU (in their size metro) will be able to recruit a better athlete to get them to the next level.
  3. For ODU to become a high level college football program, you really shouldn't want them to play Norfolk State annually. William and Mary, maybe, but not NSU or Hampton or Chowan or ECSU........you get the point.
  4. Good luck to the Monarchs. I wish them well. But I will be pulling for my ECU Pirates in their season opener today! AAARRRGGGHHH.
  5. "& did you guys look at the trains? they are on page 6. Exterior and interior views. I'm in love. " Varider, we need to get you a date.
  6. I guess (from looking at those pictures) during a bad storm people literally will "Ride the Tide". Sorry....poor attempt at humor this Friday!
  7. I think I saw light rail in one of those pdf's.....hmmmmmmm (Maybe it is a bus. But it looks like tracks too???)
  8. Thanks for posting the pictures CaveMaN. Appreciated.
  9. Thanks rus! I only get up there once in a while.
  10. Hey.....can anyone (Caveman) get over there and take some progress pictures please?
  11. That is the address/parcel that comes up on the city GIS. Hopefully they know the correct address.
  12. The address is 139 Riverview Ave. It is the piece of property directly south of Fort Norfolk Plaza. You can see this on the City of Norfolk Parcel Mapper website. It appears to currently be a large commercial/warehouse type building. Owned by Riverview Realty Corp GPIN: 1427495375 http://gis.norfolk.gov/pis/parcels/
  13. Good job bertschmidt. It only took 1 post to get telmnstr's ire up. Welcome to the forum and thanks for the info BTW.
  14. Looks like this "choo choo to nowhere" [as it has been called] is gaining some "steam" towards a somewhere. Love it.
  15. Henry (or anyone else who knows). The bids for extension, would they be bids for design work? Then later bids for construction? Does this mean the extension is a done deal, or what? If you haven't done so already, please explain it to me/us.
  16. Me too. Spill the beans already.
  17. In reference to the development of the Kern site, I really like the rendering. I think it echoes and enhances the MacArthur Memorial and is in the same scale as it instead of a large building. Very nice for the walking/shopping public if you ask me. Maybe this will become the new "waterside". Being close to MacArthur it could compliment it rather than compete with it. Waterside could then be done away with for an expansion of Town Point Park or PRIME real estate the city could sell to recoup some money it has spent to jump-start some other projects.
  18. Puting a skatepark on that tract would be shameful, plain and simple. Put a darn skatepark in the upgraded Town Point Park. This area needs to be used to the highest and best use and take advantage of the LRT stop nearby. High density development should be there, not a skate park, give me a break. BTW my first skateboard was a Vision gator, remember those?
  19. Yeah, after reading it again and taking other comments into account, it probably is something else like the DT Plaza. That's good.
  20. Well they do say "major revitalization effort". Could they perhaps be talking about revitalizing the Union Mission Building? That seem about the right size for the number of apartments.
  21. I guess I jumped the gun on the Collins Enterprises comment. This just shows my lack of intimate knowledge of what is actually in DT Norfolk. Dang, I thought it was all proposed! Sorry about that.
  22. Sorry vdogg if this has been talked about....I went to the Collins Enterprise website and there were several projects this company are doing/proposing in Norfolk, none of which I seem to remember hearing about. You guys ought to check out hteir site.
  23. I agree with Pirate (if I may call you that). I haven't read through ALL the posts in the Norfolk section, but I've read most of them and I don't recall much discussion about public parks in DT Norfolk. It would be nice to see more emphasis on open space. Just my thought.
  24. I certainly did not mean to imply that the region is "too good" for such a basketball league. But at the same time I don't see why we should not want, hope and expect something better for our region. I will be happy to give it a try. I am a huge basketball fan, and I hope it suceeds. From looking at the ABA website, it seems most teams have local/regional players from their area. A few possible players here...... (tongue firmly planted in cheek) JR Reid Alonzo Morning Allen Iverson Joe Smith Ed Geth (remember him...UNC) Ronald Curry Jason Capel Cal Bowdler Any others?
  25. I can not wait to see the Navigators play the Vermont Frost Heaves! I might have to camp out to get those tickets. Seriously, a metro of 1.7 million and this is what we get?
