  1. Who owns the piece north of hotel plot 6?
  2. This thing is a ways off from being developed. There will be a new governor by then and things will be back to being cordial.
  3. Ridiculous...... spend it on something else.
  4. I agree with everything....... And Delta had the balls to say it was not needed when they scaled down their entire operation at Orlando. Regarding Rick Scott, I voted for him, but couldn't disagree more with him regarding turning down the federal dollars. Obama was going to give away the money to anyone. They didn't care. Why stand on a soap box when it isn't gonna make a difference. Might of well taken the money. As of today, all the money went to California. Totally wasted in California. Only part that is under construction even close to being completed are in the middle of nowhere between cities the size of Lakeland. We are also 15 years later. the first nowhere to nowhere section isnt even gonna be open for another 7 years in 2030. I honestly do not thing it will ever be completed between LA and San Francisco....... WHAT A WASTE!! total cost to complete that thing, if it is ever completed, will be well north of $150 billion. So with that being said, if Rick Scott took the money, we would already have Orlando to Tampa up and running. Probably have stops at Disney and Universal..... and since Florida is so much easier to build in....... I am sure for a fraction of the cost of the California boondoggle.......... we could have linked Miami, Orlando, Tampa, and Jax with true high speed rail.
  5. Got me thinking, they both could have done grand stations. Universal could have a real Harry Potter Station, trains and all. Disney could have done a early 20th century grand Penn or Union Station type station under a huge glass enclosure. Oh, the possibilities are endless........ if money was not a factor LOL
  6. However, I completely understand Disney's POV in this. They have a huge empire the size of a city. Do they want their tourists, who they segregate on their property quite well, to simply be able to go to Disney Springs and hop on a train to Universal/Epic or explore I Drive? From a business perspective , the answer is NO. However, they bit off more than they can chew. I think they were hoping that they were the king maker and it would either have a Disney Springs station without the Sunshine Corridor, or no rail at all. They would have been happier with an exclusive route, but totally fine with no train at all anywhere west of the airport. Now they are screwed. They are gonna get left out completely. I also think it is funny how progressive the company is on certain topics, but not on others. You would think that Disney would be full throttle on trains to alleviate tourism traffic. To take their ball and go home forcing a stop off Disney property is a joke........... but maximizing profits is what their #1 goal for the company and I cannot blame them in that.
  7. Yea, that's what I figured. 1st quarter 2022 still had lingering covid effects. Still quit spectacular to break 56 million. Could challenge 60 million in 2024 which would have been unthinkable a few years ago, especially with Epic not even being open yet.
  8. Scary busy numbers coming out of OIA. First quarter total passengers are 14.257 million passengers. Last year first quarter was 11.670 million. Maybe it's flawed math here, and I'm sure it is.....but, last year we finished with over 52 million. Roughly 4.46 x 11.670 million. Extrapolate that same growth over the year, and we are at 63 million passengers for the year. Sure, it's flawed and a lot of other variables are in play.........but.......we will at least shatter 56 million this year.
  9. Simple.... as others have said, since Disney supposedly has tons of money...... why don't they just make them whole? fyi....sarcasm here
  10. Also, the $7 parking fee is pretty cool. However, I can see this being taken advantage of. If you are gonna be away from a prolonged trip, may be cheaper to buy a one way Brightline ticket and get the prepaid parking rate.
  11. Do as I say, not as I do...... politics are a joke.
  12. Spending billions on their cash cow is necessary to keep the cash cow going and competitive with universal. This move here did not fall under a necessary expense......at this time. If disney had all this money, they wouldnt have just fired thousands. So please, investing in WDW to keep it competitive is completely apples to oranges as necessary business expense. I'm actually quite surprised that you think this is a equal comparison.
  13. You are correct, he is tangling with disney specifically because of their opinion. However, Disney did not pull out of Lake Nona because of this, and you know it too.
  14. Ok, you think it's an apology tour....... I would have hoped you would have acknowledged that there is no perfect candidate. Everyone has flaws. Putting DeSantis against Gillium.....especially during COVID......I'll say he was the much better choice despite the warts that came out. Maybe you would have felt the warts of an addiction to drugs was more bearable for Gilium........who knows...... but I'm not gonna call you names or try to cancel you if you feel you supported him.
  15. So, disclaimer, I am a conservative with liberal leanings. I'm pro choice, pro 2nd amendment, but do support red flag laws and intense background checks, fiscally conservative. I do not check all the boxes on one side of the ballot. With that being said, I have to balance everything when making a choice. I tend to vote republican, because I have more disagreements with what the Democrat party has become compared to the republicans.... although my patience was tried with Trump, but still would have rather ed him then Biden. I was hopeful DeSantis was gonna be less Trump, but this ego fight seems like it's Trump's ego. What he should have said was that he disagreed with Disney's position, but supported their right to have the disagreement. End it right there. No reedy creek takeover, lawsuits, stupid press conferences talking about opening prisons on disneys land........dumb. he also tanked his political future. With that being said, it is equally pathetic that people are jumping on the political train blaming him for disney pulling out of lake nona. They were hemorrhaging money and were laying people off right and left all over including in precious California. If DeSantis was the governor of California, the left would blame him for that too. Disney originally wanted to come here, but then they needed to tighten their wallet. If they were planning on coming, dirt would have been moving years ago, but it was delay delay and then when covid was over, there was a lot of economic downturn........nothing to do with the fight with DeSantis. Although, it was a great opportunity to make a business decision that they were planning to make regardless and make it about DeSantis. Even worse, I've heard some on the left blame the star cruiser closing on this too. GTFO with the robotic line of thinking on everything. It's ok to be in the center and have different opinions.....not just the party line. Yes, DeSantis is an ass in this and he probably ruined his political fortunes.
  16. Amazing......does anyone have a connection to anyone associated with the airport and tell them to put in a request for constructing the terminal C APM?
  17. Nobody is traveling from Orlando to Aventura. West Palm, Ft Lauderdale, and Miami make sense. Aventura is a local stop..... no need for this.
  18. Why Aventura on every train? That is dumb. Love the $7 parking though.......
  19. Just curious, with all this cheese that the TDT turned into, can we use the money for the airport? Sure, one might all it infrastructure, however the airport is directly related to tourists. Maybe they can build the terminal C APM? Hahaha.......I know you all are gonna say I'm obsessed with the APM.
  20. They still use a full 737 for their commute to and from the Area 51 AFB. I no longer can find the exact stats on the McCarren website, they used to have detailed stats like OIA does. With that being said, I distinctly remember them adding all their private air traffic numbers to total passenger counts...... and it being Las Vegas...... it was substantial.
  21. I would assume that may be more of a roof warranty claim considering the place is under 15 years old..........
  22. May I add another wrench to your LAS MCO comparison? ............LAS has a huge private air passenger count that gets added into their numbers, but never set foot in the terminal. Also, it does not seem like a lot, but the Area 51 737 plane transports a plane full of passengers daily to and from Area 51....each passenger counts twice.
  23. I will go out on a limb and say that you are placed in the 0.1% category that realistically would be leaving their house 60 minutes before their flight. The other 99.9% people do in fact spend more time in the airport. How do I know this? Simply look at the lines to get into the lounges and restaurants in OIA.
  24. Amazing. The place cost $480 million to construct. In 2021 numbers, that's just over $600 million. So they need almost half the cost of the entire cost of construction from scratch for some upgrades? What can that possibly be? It's not like we really have been getting more concerts compared to Amalie like we were promised......... I just think Orang County has so much TDT money, that everyone is throwing rediculous numbers out there.
  25. Revisiting this, mark my words, and I will eat crow if I am wrong.......... if the Citrus bowl gets the $800 million to continue to put lipstick on the pig......... we will still not get any marquee college football playoff/championship games, we will still not get any superbowls, we are not getting an NFL franchise......and the marginal uptick in any more events there will be some fringe marginal events. WASTE OF MONEY............ although I did see a lot of other requests for the TDT that are even more wasteful. One thing that did intrigue me is the UCF request. Maybe it is time we support them a little more considering they are the hometown team. Maybe give them $300 million to upgrade the stadium, make a nice facade, get ride of the cheap chain link fences, expand the media tower and lounge/suites, expand the seating, add some shade for the fans, improve the night lighting. Honestly, being in the Big 12 is going to bring a lot more traveling fan bases to Orlando considering we will now have quite a few P5 teams visiting. I would say that this would have a more economic impact that any additional upgrade to citrus bowl...... I think we have squeezed out as much economic activity that we can get from that place already.
