  1. Actually, I have a bunch of old Cameron Village photos. I'm leaving town for a couple of days, but I'll try to post them in the CamVillage thread on the Triangle forum when I get back (and leave notoce here). Until then, here's a page on the Cameron Village Colonial supermarket from one of my sites. This store is the direct ancestor of the Harris-Teeter there...
  2. Yup. The gigantic brick building was a Sears catalogue sales distribution center. There was also, as I remember, a Sears Surplus at Freedom Mall in Charlotte. I think they used to call them Sears Employee Stores too, although I'm not sure whether or not they were open to the public at that time...

At Carolina Circle in Greensboro, I believe they went with the dreaded Dillard's Outlet conecpt, which was an expansion of the Ivey's Outlet which had taken over the lower level before Dillard's bought Ivey's. The mall finally died, but Monkey Ward's stayed on until bankruptcy, presiding over an empty mall surrounded by empty big box stores and empty banks... Now it's a vacant lot awaiting a Wal-Mart Supercenter...
