  1. These are traffic cameras. I'm not sure if it's this exact model, but here is a similar one: https://gridsmart.com/products/the-bell-camera/
  2. Jonny B'z progress, with an update on the final product.
  3. In a surprising turn, it looks like Elk Brewing is moving forward: http://therapidian.org/elk-brewing-under-full-construction
  4. Indeed. The build up to the announcement irked me, and an inbox full of messages using identical language to tell me this was a 'Big Deal', left me with the impression that I was being sold something I might not want. But it's starting to grow on me... It's very early in the process, so specific critiques are probably foolish, but I do have one issue that I hope they address. An event like SXSW is continually successful because everything about it reinforces the idea that Austin is the Place for that event. The name (at least from my spot on the map), the bands, and the surrounding culture all make sense in that specific location. The use of the Calder is a small nod to this concern, hinting at the impressive collection of sculptures already assembled around town, but is there much else to tie together location and event? If this event proves a success, what
  5. I'm having a little trouble reconciling the two images, but might they be private suites to eat, drink, and watch a concert from?
  6. I didn't get any usable tree pictures during that walk. Foggy glasses and frozen camera were working against me. Also, the tree itself looked a bit askew when I wandered by. Here's one more from the blurry/wintry-mix file:
  7. The focus isn't great on these, but here are a couple of shots from last week:
  8. Thanks for the reminder of the completed project. Has it been mentioned that a giant needle might not be the best image to put in a child's mind before they head into the hospital?
  9. There were actually lots of people, I had to ask them to move out of the way and stop obstructing my view of the sidewalk... Without checking the time stamp, I'm pretty sure that was Sunday evening. There was quite a bit of post-Avenue of the Arts foot traffic over on Division. Other than that, the Fish Ladder was the only spot I visited that could be described as anything other than 'sparsely populated'. [edit] Hmm... well I was right about them being from Sunday evening, but wrong about Division being crowded with pedestrians: I guess I just scare everyone off. Maybe I need to switch my deoderant brand?
  10. I thought this was pretty interesting. Vertical farms: Slideshow and article.
  11. Well, I couldn't get quite as high as plee30, but I got this one: And a couple more from closer to sea level:
  12. The church keeps looking smaller next to the new neighbors... And a shot from the other side:
  13. Well, it took them quite awhile to complete this renovation, but it looks like they did a really nice job. And now, Cherry Hill has a brand new ice cream parlor. It's been busy inside and out every evening when I've wandered by. I believe it's owned and operated by the same people as Cherry Hill Market.
  14. Thanks, I'll try to get ahold of another camera sometime soon. Until then, here are a few more from my last wandering.
  15. Much like Bigfoot, pictures of Tallbiker are rare and often of poor quality.
  16. More digging... I thought this little trench was curious...
  17. I'm new to this, and using a borrowed camera, but here are a few shots I took on my walk tonight.
  18. Might be a little early for strawberries, they probably need a little more heat and sunshine, but you could expect to see lots of fresh greens (lettuces, spinaches, herbs, cabbages, bok choy, green onions...).

One less noticed theme this year is road records. As of today, only three teams have a record above .500 on the road. I don't recall there ever being this dramatic a split between home and road records in MLB. Terry Francona had a theory that it related to the woeful state of many bullpens.
