  1. I don’t care where they fly but the Sky Club was packed today (within the past hour). I finally gave up and hit the B concourse. The expansion is very much needed.
  2. It looks nice and I am sure the Drama Center will enjoy the extra room should they get to use it.
  3. Well it’s not so much the rural areas as much as it is the spendy suburban towns. Both, actually. The good news is a lot of people in those areas are smart enough to know that the health of their own town is directly dependent on the health of Memphis. Maybe less so across the MS state line but that flight/migration and mentality was/is shortsighted. We’re talking cotton fields turned into suburban sprawl which offer little to fall back on if Memphis should fail. I don’t think it will fail; Memphis is a city of second chances. There’s a lot of divide for sure but there’s also a lot of Memphis pride. Such an interesting place.
  4. Neshoba was the name of the county they were trying to create. I remember it well, though I may not have spelled it correctly.
  5. I certainly hope so. There is nothing wrong with having some local inspiration though. It will be interesting to see how these hotels age. The good thing is that Nashville is in its "golden age" of hotels so for those who are hospitality buffs it is a very exciting time. Although I don't foresee me doing anything more than walking through the lobby of most new hotels.
  6. This isn’t a typical Holiday Inn; so many details. It looks like something Disney might design since it’s so immersive. Definitely has a sense of place.
  7. Memphis City streets are “maintained” by the city, but usually it’s a mess. They’ll pave a street one week and the next week they’re digging it up. Bump city. Same problems here though.
  8. The dark brick being used on this is such a great look. Drove by yesterday on my way home from BNA - I had to stop staring and pay attention to the road. LOL
  9. Watch out - we are getting a flasghip something store, which you can tell is super important to me since I already forgot the name. However, it will probably fill a need for bachelorette parties once the attendees have spilled their drinks all over themselves.
  10. The Hilton should be imploded and replaced with a bigger and taller property. The current Hilton is a franchise and is pretty simple architecture from the late 90’s. I guess it was quite a gamble back in the day. It must’ve paid off because it has to be a cash cow since they have the very best hotel location in downtown.
  11. Awesome pics - UT certainly has some nice facilities.
  12. Oh wow, the Nashville one looks so squatty in comparison. It'll be a big hit here though. The whole idea of shopping for a hotel in Nashville is just kind of fun. There are so many options from which to choose. I'm a hotel nerd so most of these developing properties speak to that inner nerd. LOL
  13. Isn’t the population somewhat evenly divided amongst three camps? At one time it seemed to be; one for becoming a State, one for Independence, and one for keeping the current arrangement? I’ve no iron in this fire per se, but I support whatever PR wants to do. I’ve spent so much time on the island and truly believe Puerto Rico makes us better. It truly is an enchanting island. I wish more continental Americans knew about it and would visit.
  14. I really wish we had a corporate-owned/managed Hilton in Nashville. We'd have more a statement piece of architecture if we did. The newer build Hilton Hotels are really quite eye-catching.
  15. Well there goes being able to afford loving in Cookeville - lol. On the flip side, Target may not be too far off!
  16. Cookeville has a few things on its side as it pertains to restaurants. First the location is perfect being on I-40. Next is it’s greater trade area - there’s not a lot in the other nearby counties. Then you have TECH which supplies a steady stream of hungry students. Now it’s beginning to grow into itself which brings in tourism and industry.
  17. Have you taken a look at the housing prices in Cookeville lately?
  18. I'm sure there will be new developments, both condo and apartment, to be announced soon. Some will materialize, others won't. I'd kind of like to see the apartment building near Bridgestone Arena to come back to the conversation.
  19. Interesting to bring up a lack of adequate universities in the area. We like to talk up or local institutions; however, they are behind in the creation of a modern, world-class workforce. Glad to have Vanderbilt for sure but the rest simply serve a different purpose. It’s something State/University Leadership needs to address if we want to be even more competitive in the future.
  20. That pic just proves how bad 505 needs a crown of some sort. Even a set of Christmas lights at the top would do it wonders - lol
  21. So today I watched the TECH Homecoming Parade and TTU President, Phil Oldham, referred to Cookeville as “Tennessee’s College Town” during the broadcast. I hadn’t thought too much about it but it does seem to be a fitting title as none of the other college towns rely as heavily on their local University as does Cookeville. It’s not in the same league, University wise, as Oxford, MS, Athens, GA, or Pullman, WA but it does hold its own in many of the college town categories.
  22. I want to speculate on the brand but it’s just too early to make any sense yet.
