  1. I don't know if this has been discussed before, but has anyone noticed how amateur the Douglas Airport website is? It's so dull and governmental. Its almost as if the website was viewed as an afterthought rather than a marketing tool. Its not very passenger friendly, not aesthetically appealing, and has way too much clutter. Stuff like open bids for contracts needs to be on back pages. I looked at some of CLT's peers and there are examples of modern, 2007 era websites. www.flydenver.com www.rdu.com www.flypdx.com www.orlandoairports.net www.bwiairport.com juss sayin'
  2. Has Juicy Couture opened yet? The store is still not listed on the company's website. Hermes has updated theirs.
  3. Early morning, April 4th.
  4. Heres an article from the News and Observer about Applachain States recent success at the 1-AA level of College Football... http://www.newsobserver.com/122/story/521273.html Visibility is up, giving rates are up.
  5. Living in Greenville, I can wholly attest to that. Virtually everyone in this hospital and town, when traveling, flies out of RDU. Since moving here in mid 2004, I have flown out of RDU x 25, PGV (Greenville) x2, ISO (Kinston) x 2. Rarely does it make economic sense to fly out of the local airports. I have never heard of anyone flying out of Norfolk, Myrtle Beach, or Wilmington (2 lane roads and traffic lights are no fun) RDU is served by Southwest, jetBlue, Airtran, Continental, Northwest, US Airways, Delta, American, United, Air Canada. I have never heard of Southern Skyways and Myrtle Direct Air. What sort of operations do they do? Sounds interesting.
  6. Here is an article that shows another way that school spirit tends to bring people together: NETWORKING! http://www.charlotte.com/mld/charlotte/business/15645321.htm
  7. Even RDU has a nice system. It's called Exit Express or something like that. Pay for your ticket in the terminal. Insert your reciept to get out.
  8. www.redbox.com At McDonald's in certain metro areas. Similar to the Hollywood Video box at SP. I've used it and think its a great idea.
  9. You are lumping all business travellers in one category. There are several categories, but for simplicities sake, lets lump them into only two: 1. The business traveller important enough to his company that they will pay the premium of an air taxi. 2. The business traveller NOT important enough to his company that they would pay the premium of an air taxi. Guess what, #2 is still taking US Air. So sure, it will have an effect, but certainly not make conventional air travel irrelevant to business travellers.
  10. Depends where. It could be the 3rd paralell runway west of 18R/36L.
  11. A NWA merger would be best for Charlotte. No Overlap. It would probably mean curtains for Memphis though...
  12. Any news on new international service? All i've heard is a rumor about AirTran starting seasonal Grand Bahama service. FL seems to be doing quite well in CLT.
  13. It's been loaded into the schedule, starts Sep 6. 3X CR9, not 319's. Probably best not to flood the market with Airbuses.
  14. Some more news, In addition to slashing LGA fares, US has announced that they will start 4X daily A320 service CLT-JFK. This will be on MAINLINE America West metal. It will be interesting to see whether they can fill all those seats after dumping so much capacity onto the market in retaliation to B6. SAA has dropped ATL in favor of daily IAD a few days ago. Would be nice to see SAA here in CLT, but it looks like it might be farther down the road. Any more inside info on that would be greatly appreciated.
  15. I would attribute a lot of it to US Airways closure of the PIT Hub and subsequent shift to CLT and PHL.
  16. Lenox, Phipps. Unless you want to count GA 400
  17. AS much as I like the new crazy rides, I will ALWAYS ride the Goldrusher at least 40 times when i go to Carowinds. Probably because the lines are so short, but that thing is so damn fun
